Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why does no player ever take a discount for Cleveland? Danny Green is gonna probably be paid less than Shump and he is way better on offense and a better defensive player. Makes no sense to me
Danny Green is a rare case. He’s a role-player in an ideal situation that’s lucky he found his way to the Spurs organization, because without Pop and his staff getting his head on straight, there’s a decent chance he’s not even in the league right now. In most instances, players don’t take hometown discounts until they’re well over 30, and certainly not when they hit free agency for the first time.

Does anyone worry that we're shelling out way too much for zero offense? I love all these guys, but I'm starting to get nervous. We need some 3 and D guys, shooters.

We have Love and Irving.

Because, the Spurs are arguably the best run organization in professional basketball and have been for almost twenty odd years. A lot of the players except Duncan and Robinson etc are the ones who were written off or low draft picks who didn't have much value. Its Spurs and Pop who made them play to their best and made them what they are now. That is why some might feel they owe Spurs something. I am quite sure that would have been the case with Green as well. He was so close to being out of the league. Spurs rescued his career.
there is no state tax in texas also, which allows players to rake cuts.

Yes we do. But she has a point in that during the regular season we don’t want to rely solely on our big 3 to score all our points each game. Especially given the durability concerns of our All-Stars, we have to be mindful that we’re not riding them big minutes before we even get to the playoffs.

Would Avery Bradley be an upgrade over Shumpert or at least equal to him? Maybe it makes more sense to grab him with the Haywood contract if we can. We could then use the MLE to get a SF.

Don't think Avery Bradley is a better option than Shump. Defensively, Bradley is better at guarding the point guards than Shump but Shump is much more versatile and can guard 1 to 3. But, if Shump does go, Bradley would be a good back-up option!

OK yes, I think IMO the cavs should do the Haywood contract trade first, and get some pieces and that would give them more leverage to sign Shump and JR cheaper. If shump sees that we have someone similar on the roster who can fill his role to some degree, then maybe he would be more inclined to come back and stay with a title contender for 8 mil.

$12 mill for Shumpert? If the Lakers or anyone else would really like to offer him that much money, more power to them. As much as I like Shump, I can't justify paying him that much money given the amount of time he's missed due to injury. I'd honestly rather roll the dice with JR and whoever we might get in return from Haywood than give Shumpert a long-term deal starting at $12 mill a year.

In his first four seasons, he's only played in 240 out of a possible 312 games due to injury. Not much of an offensive threat at this point. At least TT is an iron man and he has the LeBron/Rich Paul thing going for him. Seems like a bit much given that we're going to have to pay Moz next summer as well.

Dude, go read your own post in the LBJ thread where you call him a troll, and then post this in response to yourself.

I think the opposite. I’d be in no rush to do anything with the Haywood contract right now, because the more teams spend over the next couple days, the more valuable that asset is worth.

Also, Shumpert seems like a guy that wants to play and wants a defined role. He’s a young guy entering his prime soon, not a vet at the end of his career. If he sees that we bring in a guy that could potentially eat into his minutes, that would be more of a turn-off to him than playing somewhere else for more money.

One concern on waiting on the Haywood contract might be that if more and more free agents reach their destinations, suddenly only maybe 1 or 2 teams would have a need for our services and that might drop the contracts trade chip value. Right now apparently several teams are interested.

He's back bitches

Now mozgod TT and JR are left

Moz is already back, Cavs picked up the team option. And TT is poised to be back.

Just as I expected, Smith is the only wildcard for us this off-season. I think he will come back. Locked and loaded for 2015!
