Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've seen shumpert get beat at tines too. One of Kyrie's biggest highlights and games came against the shumpert where he dropped 37 and hit the game sealing layup at the end. How bout all the back cuts allowed against San Antonio and tony parker to make it 117-116 in that game.

Shumperts good on defense but so is Jr. Seems like in trying to make your point you felt the need to go out of your way to knock jrs defense.

I think Shump considers defense his strong suite, and spends more time focused on defense than JR. When JR makes an effort, his is an excellent defender as well. If the Cavs can come out with a fast start in every game, I think the Cavs rout the Warriors.

So because Kyrie lit him up he's not as good a defender as JR? I'm sorry but that doesn't make a lick of sense man. Kyrie can light up pretty much anyone in this league, Not being able to stop him when he's going off doesn't mean anything, dude. I'm not trying to knock JR's defense, as i stated in my post I actually think he's pretty damn good on that end when he's focused. He just doesn't come close to being as impactful on that end as Shumpert is, but to be fair not a lot of guys in the NBA do. I don't really think this is even arguable after watching Shumpert the last two series. I mean, there's a reason we put him on the other teams best guard and not JR.

/ thread

Chris Fedor is on Bull and Fox and he and Bull were comparing lineups. While Thompson is 3rd team All NBA, per Fedor, Shumpert wouldnt be 3rd team Ex-Knicks cast off team.

No need to continue this thread as Fedor has laid it all to rest

Ladies and Gentleman, one of your NEOMG Cavs beat writers.

Kyrie can score on a lot if people but it was still an example of poor defense. His lapses against San Antonio are examples of poor defense. And i m not really sure what you're talking about in the Chicago series. You're overrating shumperts defense. Its good but nowhere close to being much better than jrs as you claim. The cavs defend much better when nr is on the court vs off it.

hey, agree to disagree I man, I personally think it's assinine to suggest that JR is better on defense than Shumpert after what we've seen in the playoffs so far but if that's your pov, live and let live I suppose. I also never said that Shump is infallible, I just said he rarely makes mistakes compared to JR. Look, I think they are both awesome players and I would love to have them both back next year but as I said: there's a reason Shumpert gets the toughest guard match-up out on the floor when he's in. He's just better than JR on that end of the floor.

Edit: I'd also like to see the numbers that suggest that our defense is better when JR is on the floor than when he isn't on, or even more interestingly when Shumpert is on the floor.

What games were you watching against SAS? Pop got the better of us Shumpert was on Parker and the way they ran the PnR it forced Shumpert to switch on to Duncan. No one expects any of our wing defender outside of Lebron to guard Duncan so that caused all sorts of headaches for us.

We sort of handled this better later when we doubled Duncan and better yet finally late in the game when they were able to get Lebron on Parker and then the switch allowed the much bigger lebron to stay on Duncan. Can't really believe anybody who watched that game came out blaming Shumpert for SA's offense that night.

Shump is a better defender than jr. It's close when guarding the ball but they are miles apart off the ball. Jr gets lost a lot and ball watches. Shump is one of the best defenders yu will find in the NBA and I love watching him close out and shut down passing lanes

Was about to say that, the subtle hint it's a sweep.

In no way was I blaming shumpert for San Antonio. I was just saying that he has plays where he gives up offense just like Jr but both are great defensive players on this team. Opponents points drop when Jr is on the floor
