Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The more I think about it.

Bring in JR for LeBron with about 5 mins to go in the 1st Qrt. Then bring in LeBron at either the end of the 1st Qrt or the start of the 2nd Qrt and let him be the "backup pg"

I wouldnt be surprised if Blatt does this in the playoff. Unless we can add a quality vet backup pg. I think Delly is the odd man out and we even let Shump handle the ball some.

Plus, I think I have more faith in Shumpert handling the ball over Dellavedova at this point.

Admittedly I haven't seen Shump play that much, but if he can run the point i can only see that as an upgrade over Delly.

I could see the logic in having Shump be a bench player until the ASB. Chemistry seems to be good right now, and I don't know how many minutes they want Shump to play.

Don't get me wrong, he will be the starter at some point. But the 8 day break might be the best time to plug him in.
I'd rather figure out the chemistry with Shump in the starting lineup now though.

Does Iman get us any closer to Miami's transition defense? If we can generate turnovers that way, and get leak-outs with Love/James outlets; we'll be scoring a hell of a lot more easy points.

This team needs to look at easy points as the ticket to the title round.

When there's a lid on the hoop, you'll understand why those transition points take a good/very good team and elevate them elite.

Transition play. We have LeBron James, top 3 transition player of all time and we aren't getting enough transition offense.

Now we just need guys who keep their man in front of them, possibly rip them, and fucking book it down court.

Shumpert Says.......

think Shump's D and Moz's D are really gonna be huge the remainder of the season.. a motivated Kyrie,LBJ,Shump, and Marion could really provide some excellent perimeter ball pressure going forward.. I know Kyrie is inconcsistent but he can man up and at least give great effort at times.. very excited to see Shump return.. want him in the flow before the next road trip

I don't see this team consistently holding opponents under 40% shooting or anything like that. I think their ceiling is forcing a lot of turnovers despite giving up an above average shooting percentage.

It's a different sport, but think about that Saints team that won the Super Bowl a while ago. They gave up a disgusting amount of yards each game, but forced a lot of turnovers - enough to give their offense a chance.

Kyrie, Shumpert, LeBron, Marion, and even Smith are pretty solid at picking pockets and/or playing the passing lanes. Knowing they have a guy like Timo behind them should encourage them to do so.

If the Cavs can force 15-20 turnovers every night (yeah, that's a tall task), giving up 45-46% from the field can be manageable.

Well, keep in mind that if we held teams under 40% shooting, we'd probably be the best defense in NBA history. :chuckle:

The Cavs just need to improve that OPFG number a little. A better defensive effort gives us additional possessions as well as more transition opportunities on offense.

The Cavs currently average 101 playing dog shit defense. If they can get a few more steals, blocks and run outs each game, they could easily average 106-108,

That's certainly the counter argument. We also have a bunch of home games now and begin the 2nd half with a brutal 3 week stretch. Perhaps better to work in Shump during an easy stretch.

Don't underestimate just how much an interior presence like Mozgov helps defensively.

Shumpert taking Dellys mins and putting Marion back in his correct position and putting Smith on the bench is gonna be killer. Still would like another big we can throw a couple mins but I'll roll with that roster

Anything official regarding Shumpert's status for tonight?
