He looked nice even under a heavy minute restriction.

I am a bit torn on starting Shump as he has good enough skills to play backup pg. This means on a shorter play off rotation, we don't need to play Delly at all.

Great show from Iman tonight on the minutes restriction. It's a good problem to have as a coach when you're torn between a hot shooting JR and a great two-way player in Shump. Personally, I'm happy to continue riding the JR wave until Shump feels right. I get the feeling that whoever starts off the bench will still provide the exact same value in very high minutes regardless.

Why? Why does Delly get so much hate? He's been good recently, especially his assist numbers which have been great considering he's a backup PG not playing many minutes and making less than a million per year.

Very good early showing by Shump. Very poised and patient, had a surprisingly nice handle and court vision/awareness. Nice 3pt stroke (which is important on this team)

Seems like he could definitely play backup PG, no doubt.

Shot looking smooth for sitting out so long. I'm anxious to get him playing with starters because he never really got the chance at any times he was on the floor tonight. I'd let him start to see how he does, and then bring in JR for the majority of the minutes while we work him back.

Not hate, just reality. Delly is all effort, but not athletically a NBA rotational player. Shumpert has the athletic, skill, and effort. Delly doesn't finish at the rim because of is lack of athletic ability.

Not really hate, but Shump is an improvement.

Great bonus that his shot was falling, but watching him on defense, and you can tell he's just starting on his way to recovery. And even if he can't do everything he wants, he has great instincts. He gets screened on a pick, and he fights his way to recover immediately. He anticipates passes. He knows when double teams are needed with the shot clock winding down. I also liked his efficient passing, which surprised me.

On defense, he seemed like he was going about 3/4 speed for him (and faster than many other defenders), yet he was still disruptive and you know better things are coming. I hope they bring him along right. I think that Blatt is going to love him, esp. when his speed really kicks in.
