Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not hate, just reality. Delly is all effort, but not athletically a NBA rotational player. Shumpert has the athletic, skill, and effort. Delly doesn't finish at the rim because of is lack of athletic ability.

Not really hate, but Shump is an improvement.
Shumpert very well could be a better player than Delly but that's not what I'm arguing. You said Delly shouldn't even see the floor which I think his crazy considering what he brings to the table. Sure he's limited athletically and he can't really score but he brings a ton of other things to the table like leadership, effort, facilitating, ball movement, etc.

Delly is what he is. He's nice to have on your bench and he can come in and give you some hustle plays and what not but there's no reason he should be seeing the floor as much as he has. I don't get the notion of him not seeing the floor at all but I'm thinking he shouldn't be getting much more than 10 to 15 minutes a night at best. He's on a great contract for what he does and I don't see us letting him go to add another PG. Right now we have one roster spot and I see that going to a big. I know it was scrub time but at one point we were seeing James Jones and Mike Miller playing PF. I wouldn't mind seeing Shumpert get some burn at PG once he gets into the swing of things.

Not arguing with you there. 15 minutes a night would be perfect. Just saying that everyone acting like it's the end of the world when he sees the floor and saying that he shouldn't even be on this roster is crazy. He does the little things you want a backup PG to be able to do.

I'm glad he's apart of the team. I can tell in his interviews he misses New York just a little bit. I know his girlfriend lives there the majority of the time.

I think this team will win him over completely over time.

From Terry Pluto:

Shooting guard Shumpert returned Friday after missing five weeks with a shoulder injury. The Cavs may give him a chance to play some backup point guard.

I was wondering about this. The Knicks had him starting at the point before he went down with the shoulder injury. It would keep JR with the starters as long as he's hot and get Shumpert the minutes he needs.

Love his defense. He was giving them fits.

Yup Shump was a bit rusty with his handle but defensively he looked very solid, quick hands and was locked into a tough matchup with Durant and/or Westbrook and holding his own.

Also nice to see him continue to knock down spot up shots. That will be vital if he slides into the starting 5.

Can't wait until he really gets into the flow.

He is so comfortable on defense. Lol, so comfy his strategy is to let d rose blow by him so he can swat when he brings the ball up...and it works.

Game just moves very slow for him..he's sees the matrix for what it is

Shump has been really good tonight I think.
Blatt did VERY well with his limited minutes and used him at perfect timing.
He does things that you don't see in stat sheets like closing down passing paths perfectly, putting a lot of pressure on ball handlers and staying between the player and the basket with his quick feet.
I really enjoyed seeing him tonight.
The offense will come, I'm not worried.

I've enjoyed watching Shumpert out there. Can't wait until he really gets his legs back underneath him and gets even more comfortable with increased minutes. He's been fun to watch on defense so far. Very active and does the little things that don't necessarily show up in the box score.

I'd really like to see him get time with the starting lineup so he can start to build that chemistry. Even if they want to keep him on minute restriction, at least start him and then bring in JR for most of the minutes if you need to.

23 minutes played, +31.

+/- per 100 possession: greater than +100 :chuckle:

I usually laugh at plus minus numbers but wow!

Those are impressive. Especially since he was out there against good players
