Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really love Shump. Great intangibles on D, always active hands and making plays. He's the type of guy come playoff time you want to go to war with.

Tonight 32 minutes, 7 points, 6 assists, 6 steals, 4 rebounds. Pretty much exactly what you'd want out of him.

6. Shumpert said he studies film of the opposing team’s top two guards before every game. He watches passing lanes and counts dribbles. When opponents kill their dribble, he positions himself for a steal. He tries to think how he would react if he had the ball in his hands, or what Kyrie Irving would do, and then responds appropriately. “I basically play offense on defense,” he said.http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland...-little-things-headbands-and-history-1.573632

He's getting more and more comfortable at disrupting the other team's offense. It seems like our starting unit would benefit from jacking up the other team from the get-go.

Meanwhile, it seems like our 2nd unit would benefit from JR's offense more than Shump's middling jump shot. JR's quick release would mask Delly's offensive limitations- Delly would have a viable deadeye shooter to pass to, giving him time to get his own shove shots off.

The character is not a basketball player though. Does Shumpert come from a family that is running a record label?

6 steals? Exactly what you want? So your expectation is he will average 6 steals a game? :chuckle:

PS. Possibly the best game i have seen from a player that did have double digits in any statistical category.

Haynes getting caught with his hands in the embellishment cookie jar once again.

War between Shump and Haynes!

First thing I learned in high school in journalism....

Always check back with your source to make sure every quote is right and making sure he wasn't joking or not and also making sure the quote is right, even before writing a story.

I think that's what Haynes problem is right now. He doesn't check back to get clarification on stories with players.

A good example: the one he wrote on Dion Waiters earlier in the season.

It's gone national. Good job, Haynes...
Iman Shumpert says Fox’s ‘Empire’ stole his character, and his girlfriend’s

Iman Shumpert, Mario Chalmers
The most popular TV show of the year so far is Fox’s Empire, a drama about the hip-hop industry. But one person isn’t feeling it: Cavs guard Iman Shumpert says the show’s producers stole not only his likeness for a character, but also that of his girlfriend.

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer‘s Chris Haynes:

“I don’t watch that stuff, man,” Shumpert told Northeast Ohio Media Group with an annoyed expression on his face.

“They’re using my girl’s character, her style, her look and she’s not getting anything for it,” Shumpert said of Teyana Taylor, a real-life R&B singer, dancer and actress who is Shumpert’s girlfriend. “They didn’t even change her name. They could have at least let my girl audition for the part instead of stealing her character completely.

For the rest of this obviously-important-to-our-season distraction:

Can't imagine Haynes keeps up his good relations with players when he pulls shit like this. I've been pretty disappointed with him and his work this year tbh. Heard some good things about him coming out of Portland but he merely been the least intolerable person on NEOMG, which is literally like being the least nauseating ass hair on a wild hog.

Logistical question: what does Shumpert do with that hair at night? Seems like it'd be down in his face by morning or does he wear something over it? These are the kinds of questions people with a lot less hair ask themselves. Gotta say, it's great branding.

I like what I've seen from Shumpert so far. Offensively he isn't as strong as I thought but the guy has shown an aptitude for playing winning basketball.
