Indians acquire OF Jordan Luplow in 5 player trade

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can logically understand the ft/sec sprint speed metric. The other ones are a foreign language. Baseball metrics are the best

Chase% is the amount of pitches outside the strike zone that a hitter swings at. Plate discipline stat.

DRS is defensive runs saved. Guys with better arms or who cover more ground can save you runs that players without can’t.

UZR is ultimate zone rating. It rates how many play chances were in a players “zone” and their success rate, as well as what their rate is on plays outside of their zone.

As far as the speed thing, it's great that he's quick. Looking at the stats though, Ludlow and Allen have very, very similar MiLB numbers when it comes to plate appearances and OBP. Even breaking it down even further Allen has 561 singles/walks while Ludlow has 522. Despite the numbers being very similar, Allen has 157 stolen bases and Ludlow only has 39.

He looks to be at the least, a good defensive OF with some tools that could make him a decent player. He's struggled at the major league level but in his 103 MLB plate appearances last year he managed a 9.7% BB% and 17.5% K%. That is encouraging.

About time to recall Michael "tough last out" Martinez for leadership and guidance.

That would sure make Kris Bryant smile:

Someone tell Andujar he’s gonna have to find another team to convert him to an outfielder.

Keep posting tweets from Kevin Dean. The dude is a must follow on Twitter for any fellow baseball nerds.

Does he think theres any way the Indians could get Kris Bryant?

FWIW, the Pirates are an organization that is, well, how should we say it..... behind the times?

They're still instructing their pitchers to pitch to contact, forcing them to learn 2-seamers and what not.

They're still also stressing a contact approach with their hitters and I'm pretty sure they think the term "launch angle" has to do with nuclear codes.

If there's any organization with players with some untapped upside, the Pirates would be first on my list....
