James Harden rejects OKC Offer / *Traded* to Rockets

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Imagine that the Toronto pick that OKC got will be the #1 pick in next years draft....
OKC gets it if its in the lottery correct?

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Would of liked to see us make a run at Harden, oh well. The thing that sucks is we have all this amo and haven't done anything with it. Hopefully we will benefit down the road.

And offer what? They needed a proven player to replace him obviously... who is our proven player who can put the ball in the bucket to offer?

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

The Cavs need a Bynum type big more so than a SG. Bynum is the guy I hope we get.

We have passed on 2 very high ceiling centers the past 2 drafts. That is not a position of value to Chris Grant. Besides, he just burned a #1 on Zeller this year.

Very bad trade for the Thunder. Not sure what Presti is thinking.

It's protected, couldnt find the terms on the protection so i assume if it's the #1 pick it'll go to Toronto

Jonas V and Andre Drummond aren't proven. Grant doesn't want a development big. He wants a proven big like Anthony Davis or a trade/signing like Bynum.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

I kinda like this move for OKC. Westbrook and Durant are ball dominant anyway, so Harden while he was a nice piece, wasn't absolutely essential. Martin and Lamb are both good spot of shooters and should open up the floor more for Westbrook and Durant to do work. Plus you have to look at the amount of assets they now have; the 2 1st rd picks, Lamb and PJ3. If they want to go and get another high caliber player then I think that would make the basis for a good trade package.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Houston has said they will offer Harden a max deal, so they're planning on staying irrelevant for the next 5-7 years.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Decent trade. But all it shows is that OKC's ownership has absolutely no intention of EVER paying the tax(If you don't do it for Harden, who are you waiting for ?) and I don't see how they can win without doing so. This kinda stuff is why you guys should relish Dan Gilbert as he would have extended Harden long ago.

no. it has weird protection - top 3, then 15+ iirc. which actually works out for okc cause toronto will probably be 8-14ish.

but, i really don't like this trade for okc. kevin martin is just so so so so unreal bad on defense. harden isn't all-defense caliber in his own right, but is still far better with upside. martin is what he is at this point.

okc's piece of shit ownership group made a terrible mistake here. when you are such an elite team, esp that age, it is not the time to cut costs. not at all. if i were an okc fan, or the cavs ever did this while in a similar situation, i would be livid.

lakers and spurs are very happy right now.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Yeah, it is very strange that they weren't willing to spend whatever it took to keep that core group together. Will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

That's not true.

They will be way into the tax already.

2 Max guys plus Ibaka at like $10 million a year.

With the way the new cap is and the penalties escalating they would have tied up the entire salary cap in Westbrook/Durant/Ibaka and Harden at $14 million had he signed.

This wasn't a case of a cheap owner, just that going forward with a penalty of 3 and 4 dollars to 1 no team can have 3 max guys plus another making $12+ million a year.

That he was willing to take Harden to $14 million having 2 max guys already shows a huge commitment to spending.

This new salary cap will make it uncomfortable for teams like OKC that draft well and hit on their picks.

I forgot Perkins and his $9 million a year.

Adding Harden to the cap at $14 million a year in 2014/15 would have put them at $70+ million for just Harden/Ibaka/Perk/Durant/Westbrook.

As a repeat offender their tax number would have been insane.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

Presti must have been talking trade with teams before tonight because that was very quick of him to trade Harden the same day they couldn't come up with an extension. Houston gets better but ultimately their core is Lin, Asik and Harden and Harden is the only one who has a chance of making an all star team. OKC I guess did what they had to and got potential in Lamb and that draft pick but unless they been shopping him recently I think they should have tested the market more and preferably closer to the trade deadline. OKC lost a huge piece of the puzzle and their best play maker and a pretty good 3 point shooter. Tough to replace.

Do not underestimate the power of the Asian voter.

Re: James Harden rejects 4 year/ $52 Million OKC Offer

OKC replaces Harden with about the same production and gets potentially two lotto picks.

Presti is a damn genius.
