Jared Cunningham

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If by next Danny Green you mean we're going to let him go only to end up as a key part of a championship team? Then probably...

danny green was trash when he was here

he was even trash when he went to the spurs at first

it took being out of the league and some time in D League to be the player he became. even he admits he wasnt working hard enough.

its not like we just gave up on a burgeoning star player

i will say maybe cunningham is ready? we will see during the rest of the preseason. he's bounced around, maybe its time for him to become an NBA player.

i do like his ability to draw fouls. that is one thing we are missing. only kyrie and lebron really drive and take contact. id like another dude capable of this. maybe be what dion waiters should have been off our bench.

I didn't get to watch the game but..... next Danny Green?

He is way way more athletic and alot faster then Danny Green and has a better handle. I'm really impressed with this kid, he looks like he has that next level speed that is almost impossible to stop, he blows by people with ease and you can't teach that. (sry joe harris)

I really hope we keep him and develop him, I know its only one game but I think he has some crazy potential and upside

Joe Harris is basically a piss poor weak ass Danny Green, a worse Danny Green when Danny Green was here.

Cunningham has looked promising so far.

We need a guy who can, at first, be a neutral player when we are blowing teams out. I think this guy stands a chance.

The elephant in the room is that we will not be blowing teams out given our injuries IMO.

With Mo and Delly and LBJ and then Ki too, this guy will play off of the ball a lot if he makes the team. I would like to hear if anyone knows what the player's options are:
He could make the team, but if the Cavs are rolling non guaranteed contracts on him, that sucks for him when we get healthy. Is that possible?
He could obviously get cut.
I was thinking that if he plays well, he can sign somewhere else? Like maybe this is a showcase for him.

I am not guessing either way, but does anyone understand what his options are?

My fingers are crossed that this guy gets turned out by Blatt: mediocre player before, competitive piece after.

Great game young man!

The thing that impresses me is his defense. He's not just out there gambling for steals...he actually has great defensive instincts. Like he blew up a couple of pick and rolls where he jumped in front of the ball handler and around the pick setter. You don't see that often from point guards.

Cavs are well known to have trouble with quick guards, if he can provide defense against them then his chance of making it go up exponentially.

We badly need young and athletic. With Shump out we also need help at the off-guard spot. A shame he isn't big enough to handle SFs though.

I think everyone is getting WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ahead of themselves with Cunningham.

He also played well last pre-season with LA and that got him just 19 regular season appearances and no meaningful minutes.....and that was on a team with ZERO depth.

He played extended minutes in 3 of the 5 pre-season games in 2014-15 for LAC and averaged 13 PTS, 2 REB, 2 AST and shot 11/28 from the field (40%) and 5/12 from 3 (42%). That included a game where he scored 23 points.

Players can obviously improve but the pre-season is glorified practice. Guys aren't trying as hard, reserves get extended looks and guys like him can look way better than they really are.

Obviously I want nothing more than someone like him to emerge in to a contributing role but that is incredibly unlikely. I'll be happy if he makes the team, absolutely floored if he plays any minutes at all.

Gotta say Joe Harris isn't showing me much. I think it's time to give someone like Cunningham a chance instead.

Cant be instead, but we have an open spot for a league min guy.

Harris is guaranteed and i dont see the need to cut him at this point to stick a 2nd player on the end of the bench. He costs us about 4 mill with tax even if cut then another 3 mill or so for the new guy, as we see with Tristan, money matters.

I do hope we carry 15 until Kyrie and Iman are back. Maybe sign Cunningham to a non guaranteed contract and see if we can trade Harris at some time for a bag of Doritos.

Cunningham is already on a one year non-guaranteed deal, so they could always keep him around and cut him in January.
