Jason Lloyd's final thoughts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
From Jason Lloyd's final thoughts on the Houston game:

10. The offense is grinding down more and more into isolation basketball with James dribbling at the top of the key. His 35 shots tonight were one off his career high and his most since 2006. Part of it is understandable with Kyrie Irving out of the lineup, but James has scored 79 points on 60 shots in the Cavs’ last two games. There isn’t much efficient about that.

11. This could very well be what it’s like in the playoffs, too, considering how the game slows into half-court sets on most possessions. “The game got into the grind it out mode for both teams,” David Blatt said.

12. In fact, James played exactly how Rockets coach Kevin McHale wanted. McHale said before the game how dangerous James is and how he can impact the game in so many ways. “I think LeBron’s best games are his 22-point, 13-assist games where he does everything,” McHale said. “We’ve got to try to see if he can have a 30-point game with 25 shots and get the assists out of it.”

13. James took even more shots than McHale was hoping for and he had just four assists despite handling the ball most of his 42 minutes on the floor.
I think this is a really important point and something Blatt and the team have to work on. It is not all on Lebron as we have never gotten the right production out of our 'ball movement' offense and that is one reason why he loses faith in it. (Which maybe he shouldn't do but it is hard to watch your team go down to defeat when you could make the difference).

I don't need Lloyd to tell me what lost this game:
1-Way too many sloppy TO's..some of the passes attempted were slow, readable and weak.
2-FT's..Lebron.
3-Plays..what were they running? Nothing.
First they were working Moz down low..went away from that.
Love started going low, went away from that.
Too much Le-Iso.
4-Defense slow to close out open looks.
5-I did not like the rotations late in the game.

Lebron is his own worst enemy. Yesterday was a great time to keep feeding Love, and he stopped.

Good thing is KI will be back tomorrow.

Good read, as always:

3. “We’re not there,” LeBron James said. “We still have a lot of room to improve. We’re still trying to get better. We’re not playoff-ready.”

4. The numbers say otherwise, particularly when using Jan. 15 as the line of demarcation. That’s the day of the win at the Lakers and the day the season began to dramatically swing. All of the following numbers are rankings are based on data beginning with that night against the Lakers.

5. Their .826 winning percentage (19-4) is tops in the league. They’re outscoring teams by a whopping 11.6 points – the next-closest team is the Warriors at 8.4. They’re fifth in the league in 3-point percentage, third in defensive field-goal percentage and fourth in the league defending the 3-point line.

7. Want more? They’re sixth in defensive rating, which measures how many points they’re allowing per 100 possessions and sort of levels all the numbers. The Spurs were fourth in defensive rating last season when they won the championship, the Heat were seventh and fourth the years they won titles and the Mavericks were seventh when they won it. So the Cavs are certainly living in the right zip code.

14. James passes his good buddy Ray Allen to move into 21st place on the all-time list. At his current scoring rate, he’ll only need about 12 more games to surpass Patrick Ewing and move into the top 20 in scoring. With 20 games left, that’s a safe bet.

15. James laughed when asked if passing Allen will be enough incentive to draw him back onto an NBA roster since James now leads him by one point. “Make one 3 and then retire?” he joked. “I’m going to call him. I’ll say something about it.”

16. The Cavs trailed the Toronto Raptors by 7 1/2 games prior to this run. They’ve now swallowed up 6 1/2 of those games in the standings and can essentially pull into a tie for second place in the East with a win Wednesday. Even more importantly, the Cavs can clinch any tiebreaker scenario since they already hold a 2-1 edge in the series. The Cavs were in a similar position against the Bulls the night before the All-Star break and basically punted the game after spending two days complaining about having to play it. They can’t afford to be so careless again.

18. Asked where the Cavs needed to get seed-wise, James responded, “top eight. Put me in the playoffs, I’m all right. Once I get in the playoffs, I’m confident against anybody.”

Contradiction here...

3. “We’re not there,” LeBron James said. “We still have a lot of room to improve. We’re still trying to get better. We’re not playoff-ready.”

Then he says:

So if you're confident against anybody, then you're team is actually ready Lebron....stop trying to be psychological..just play.

He meant he's confident against anybody in the playoffs. Which is accurate. Still time for growth right now.

No it's a contradiction..he just said they're not playoff ready so how could he be confident beating anyone in the playoffs if the team isn't ready?
It would have been better to just say nothing about them not being ready .
Really, they are ready..they just have to do the things they need to do to play as a team and get rid of iso plays.

I agree. When you look at the whole article, i think LLoyd even says something similar:

1. If this was the last game of the regular season and a first-round matchup with the Washington Wizards awaited later this week, all of the responses tonight would’ve been different. The answer to the question, “Are you ready for the playoffs?” would’ve been a resounding “Absolutely.”
2. Instead with 20 games left, players and coach alike had to couch their answers. After all, if they’re ready now, what would they do for the next six weeks? But the way this team is playing, they’re absolutely ready for the postseason.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will win the 2015 NBA championship.

Hello and goodbye.

I don't think it's a contradiction.

First point he is referring to where they are as a team PRESENTLY

Second point, he is referring to the future in this playoffs and any future playoffs and how he believes every team he is on will ultimately get to the point where he can lead them to a championship.

Lastly, to mirror what you said towards LeBron at the end of your post, stop trying to be so psychological and analyze every quote from your armchair...just watch.
