Joe "Captain America" Harris

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Marion can start at the 2 and still provide LeBron some rest throughout the game.

Y'all talk about getting LeBron some rest, but Marion being on the floor with LeBron allows Marion to guard the opponent's best wing player while LeBron takes the weaker one. Save LeBron for offense early on in the game, let the team get out to some early big leads more often.

Right. One of the great things about the Marion signing was that we could limit LeBron's minutes without the defense totally falling apart and at least keeping a capable offensive player on the court. Marion right now is really the key to LeBron's minutes going down.

His starting is just a stopgap until Joe is ready. It's going to happen sooner rather than later, it seems... and it should. He seems like the perfect 3&D compliment at the 2 for the Kyrie, LeBron, Love, Varejao lineup. Let Dion and Marion run the second unit, which suddenly would look pretty damn formidable.

1-2 good games for Harris against 2 mediocre eastern conference teams doesn't qualify him as a starting nba 2 guard. Not one we can count on in the playoffs yet at least. I want to see more from him at least another solid month of good play before we anoint him that position yet.

I like Marion at lot in the starting unit, he has been a starter for a team that won a championship in the past. He still looks like our most versatile defender out there other then Lebron.

If we want to get Lebron more rest we need a better bench. We are still 1-2 pieces away from a championship roster anyway

I think it is time to stop calling Harris a role player

A "better bench" can be accomplished by moving guys who can play to the bench unit (ie: Shawn Marion). That's the point. People put too much stock in who "starts" anyway. Much more important is who is on the floor at the end of the game than at the opening tip.

Just because a guy starts doesn't mean he is necessarily "better" than the guys coming off the bench. It may just be a fit thing. Or, maybe you want a certain skillset coming off the bench as opposed to playing with the starting unit. Harris' skillset seems to mesh well with the other starters and adding Marion to the bench may boost the second unit exponentially.

At the end of the day, Blatt will make the call, but it isn't all that difficult to read the tea leaves. Harris' minutes are going up and, when LeBron and Kyrie are on the floor together, more and more Harris has been the other guy in the backcourt.

I wonder when delly gets back how many minutes joe would get

I like him at 15 mpg

5x48= 240 minutes to split

LeBron 35
Love 35
Kyrie 35
Varejao 25
Waiters 25
Thompson 20
Delly 20
Marion 20
Harris 15

And there's about 10 minutes left

If brewer comes he probably takes 2-3 minutes from dion, Harris and Marion

From 2011 until this season Marion has started 60 + games for the Mavs. The guy knows exactly what it takes to be a starter on a championship team. the last time he came off the bench was the 2010 season and his numbers were down across the born. Hes built to be a starter. You can't tell me if you wanted to win a championship THIS year you want a second round draft pick in the starting lineup that just nonsense. Name 1 team that made the NBA finals with a 2nd round draft pick as the starter.

As far as fit goes hes better with the starters anyway you look at it.

Not that it has to be said or you guys couldn't conclude it yourself, but Harris is in the rotation to stay.

Miller is fine with it, by the way. He knows he was brought on as basically a favor to LeBron.

Harris TS% I believe is #1 amongst rooks I believe.

Delly needs to get back and do it quickly.

The last time Kyrie played this many 40+ minute games in such a short span was in late December last year. He played three consecutive 40+ minute games and was heading toward his fourth when, against the Pacers, he was injured. He ended up missing the next three games and then it took him another couple weeks to get back to where he was prior to the injury.

Right now, Kyrie has played 40+ minutes in four of the Cavs' first eight games, far and away the most minutes he's ever played to start a season. Right now, Delly is the key to getting him under that mark, preventing injury and enabling him to save something for what we hope is a long postseason run.

I like your minute breakdown for the most part. If we can get Kyrie, LeBron and Love down to 35 minutes a night, it'll be a godsend.

People are too concerned about minutes that a 22 year old plays.

I couldn't care less where he was drafted. The last two championship teams had second round picks in the starting lineup (Spurs-Danny Green, Heat-Mario Chalmers).

If he's a good fit and playing well, who cares about where or when he was drafted?

I'll do better then that. I'll name a team that won an NBA championship with a starting center that went undrafted. The 2004 Detroit Pistons with Ben Wallace at center.
