Hearing Joerger has a "big personality" that clashes with the front office. Sounds like he is an asshole like Qtip thought

This guy can’t get out of his own way. Things went south with the players and management (Marvin’s role). The players also either didn’t like him or speak highly of him (tepid at best) and management hated him which is how it went down in Memphis (he was actively looking for other jobs like Minnesota while employed which is pretty disrespectful). Comes off arrogant and I caught a ton of games they completely blew late thanks to horrible play calling and time management. The post All-Star collapse was no accident and reeked of major dysfunction.

Pass on this guy. I can see him being a successful college coach for some reason.

A coach that has an offensive system and can get the ball moving... we also need a new defensive co-ordinator

Not really a popular opinion around and a long shot at best... But I liked Blatt and wish he be given another chance... Basketball knowledge was there but probably did not adjust fast enough to the NBA culture and did not make a lot of friends specially from the vets and media... He is gonna fit better on a rebuilding team

When he signed on last time we were going to be a rebuilding team...then we got Bron and everything changed. I agree, he would be great with a young team

I'm surprised there's no David Blatt mention. He's the perfect coach for a young, rebuilding team.

Serious question, why does anyone think Luke Walton is a good coach?
Because of the 73-9 Warriors. And the progress he made with the Lakers in 17-18. Plus people feel like he was given an impossible job this past season and are willing to give him a pass for that dumpster fire.

Btw, anyone know if that Woj barrage of names has any roots in reality, or if he's just doing favors for his leaky pals, or a combination of the two?

Any chance for Becky Hammon here?
Is this why 92.3 is talking about her?
I swear I think they scan these message boards a lot..too much I see on the boards that are brought up in their shows.
Way too much.

Other than the fact that she's a woman, what is the affirmative argument for hiring Becky Hammon?

She's got only 5 years of coaching/player development (3 coaching, 2 player development) experience at any level, and this was only her first year as a front row assistant with the Spurs. She's not even Pop's lead assistant - Ettore Messina is. And she's not even next in line behind Messina - Ime Udoka is. So why aren't the people advocating for Hammon advocating even more for Messina or Udoka?

Nobody with that little experience had ever been hired as a head coach unless they also had a lot of NBA knowledge/experience because they had been NBA players. If she is hired as a head coach, she'd have the thinnest resume in league history. By far.

And I understand that you hire people, not resumes, but that logic applies when you have the opportunity to evaluate meaningfully the individual candidates for a position, and look beyond the resume. None of us have had the opportunity to observe her closely enough to have an informed opinion of how good a head coach she'd be. If she'd been a head coach in college or even the G-League, we could look at her team's on-court performance and judge her based on that. But she wasn't.

I just don't get it. Maybe she would be a great hire, but none of us are in a position to know whether or not that is the case. So, I don't understand the advocacy.

There are no legitimate reasons for hiring her yet. But the nba and nba media is the most progressive leaning people in sports so it’s going to get pushed.

Are there any more legitimate reasons for Ime Udoka or Wes Unseld Jr? Let's be honest, we have zero idea about how good an assistant is and we have zero ways to measure it. All we have to go on is their reputation and how often they get mentioned in these rumors.

Yeah, i get it that people might be suspicious of a 'progressive agenda' being pushed here, but look at it this way -- how good does she have to be and how hard does she have to work to make it in such a boys' club? She's quite the outlier, so of course that's gonna get people to talk about her. For very legitimate reasons.
