Maybe Drew is going to the Lakers if Lue is hired... Anyways I just want Lue to be hired so he could get his boy Longo outta here and that makes sure the Cavs does not retain Longo...
Unfortunately Longo is here to stay. He will be our Head Coach. Gilbert wants people he can relate to.

This inciteful prediction brought to you by the guy who just asked this when informed that the Cavs won the lottery coin toss.:

does that mean 100% the #2 pick?

Purely a guess, but based on ties to the organization and Koby Altman, here’s my list of candidates for the Cavs job:

1) Alex Jensen, Utah
2) Jordi Fernandez, Denver
3) Wes Unseld, Jr., Denver
4) Adrian Griffin, Toronto
5) David Vanterpool, Portland
6) Nate Tibbets, Portland
7) Steve Hetzel, Orlando
8) Darvin Ham, Milwaukee

The only college coaches I can really see them considering are Kevin Ollie, Shaka Smart, & Avery Johnson. 2 of the 3 were just fired from their schools, so I’m not sure how well the franchise can sell those guys to the team & public. They may need to re-establish themselves as assistants for a few years before getting another head coaching job.

A message for the two people who voted to keep Drew:

Fight me.

Easy easy.. Was just a short joke. Saying Gilbert keeping Longo around cause they are both short. And yes I don't understand a thing about how this new lottery works and never said I did.

It's not how it worked in the old lottery as well...

Looks like a hire is not coming in the near future... Which means the draft would be mostly a Koby and DG decision with no input from the next coach... Don't know how to feel about thay...

The draft is over 2 months away. Plenty of time to hire a coach.

It's reasonable to want to consider top assistant from teams that advance far into the playoffs, so there's no way to avoid that unless you want to cross all those candidates off the list.

Also...I could see valuing the coach's input if he's familiar with your team, is familiar with other scouts and talent evaluators, and has a prior track record of being a good talent evaluator. But that's not supposed to be a point of expertise for most coaches -- certainly not to the degree that his input should matter as much as that of the full-time evaluators. If Koby doesn't have trust in his current scouts and the evaluative process, and is going to instead go with the opinion of a coach who hasn't been scouting college and foreign talent throughout the year, then that's a pretty big problem.

We let Byron Scott -- who likely had more head coaching experience than whomever we'd hire now -- decide that Dion Waiters was the right guy.

So I'm completely fine with the incoming head coach not being involved in the draft process.
