His large hands would help him field Yount's wild snaps. I think we are on to something here.
kaepernick had some success in a variation of the wildcat. not sugestng you line up Manziel as a running back. His only chance of lasting 5 years in this league is as a QB. Use him in the wildcat or as a receiver is inviting those animals on defense to tee off on him. He already has the biggest target on him in the NFL. Linebackers and safeties would be drooling at the thought of him being put in that position. He wouldn't last 3 games without getting injured. He needs to work hard at being a QB. He's way too small and slow to be a receiver. The only time that will ever work is from a gimmicky play like we saw Sunday. Unfortunately the element of surprise is gone and that play's chances of succeeding again are wildly diminished.
Torn's nonsense aside, I am happy with how this team is handling Manziel. Get him on the field, give him a chance to make a play on the field but don't give him too much. Let him see the game, see the pre-snap.
Let Hoyer continue his solid play and let Manziel learn. Give him another year, maybe two, before he takes over. Pretty excited we have a good enough team to actually develop a guy like Manziel.
so suggesting the browns continue to do the same is nonsense but your happy with what their doing.
I am happy with the manziel packages.. bring him at qb... put him out there as a te or slot receiver. put him in motion. snap him the ball.. put him out there at the same time as hoyer. . run so lateral reverses and fake reverses.
etc.
Browns have two weeks to expand on their Manziel package.
people are being intentionally obtuse about this wide receiver thing.
thats the point it doesnt matter where he lines up. the defense has no idea whats going on. is the ball going to jjohnny. is he a decoy. When the defenses start keying in on hoyer and the offense bogs down. theres lots of ways to use Johnny to to keep opponents on their toes.
a johnny play should always be an option whenever the team is in between the thirties.
Brian Hoyer is not a top 10 QB.
While I appreciate what he's done over the first three games, but I'm begging all of you not to turn him into something he isn't.
It's just unfair to him.
Look. I'm not saying he's a top 10 QB, but what you are doing is unfair. I keep on looking at the "franchise QB's" week after week and most have WAYYYY more weapons and not doing much. I watch these games and say "give that guy our weapons, give Hoyer theirs".
Cutler isn't a top 10 QB in my opinion by any means, but i'm sure all the "experts" would rank him higher than Hoyer. Last night he looked like shit considering the weapons he has. Again, give Hoyer...
Jeffreys, Marshall, Bennett, Holmes and Forte.
Dez, Williams, Witten and Murray
Graham, Colston, Stills, Ingram
Thomas, Thomas, Welker, Sanders and Ball
Give the Seahawks guys like Hawkins, Austin, West and Barnidge the first few weeks. Give the Browns guys like Marshawn, Baldwin, Harvin, and Miller...what happens to the rankings of Hoyer and Wilson?
Who are the top 10 QB's in your opinion? Are any playing with lesser talent than Hoyer played with the first 3 weeks? Personally i think Hoyer made those guys we have look better than they actually are. I'd just like to see what he could do with a healthy Tate, Cameron and Gordon added into the mix.

If the Browns aren't winning, that means changes need to be made on the defensive end, which has been the major disappointment of the season so far. Which move changes the effort level of the team:
1. Demote the guy who has over achieved and played a career year for the guy who partied his way through the summer...
or...
2. Demote/ bench Haden, making 12.1 million this year to impersonate burnt toast... or the sucky Rubin who is making no impact at 8.1 million this year... or the disappointing free agents Whitner and Dansby making bank?
