Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still can't get over the fact that people thought it couldn't get worse than Hoyer.
I mean, where the hell have you been for the past decade-plus?

The end result was no different. I was way more infuriated with the way we lost the Indy game than yesterday's game. One was a teenage driver's first time on the road resulting in a totaled car after they mistook the gas for the break, and the other was a slow-moving car crash that should have been avoided by a experienced driver.

Excuse me? You prefer to hardly get past the 50 than lose in the final minutes? Yeah, no fucking way. Yesterday was demoralizing. A dive back into the depths of the past 15 years.

It's important to recognize that this isn't proof positive of Manziel being a bust.

Hell, this could drive him into being a good QB, who knows? But yesterday was a large black spot on his reputation and ego. Hopefully, he will bounce back from it.

We'll see. My confidence in him being the future at QB for the Browns has definitely been shaken.

Sample size or no sample size, even the most ardent Manziel supporters would have to be concerned with just how poorly he played out there.

He looked positively gun-shy towards the end, had absolutely no idea what to do.

Yeah, I would. That's just me.

We never had a chance yesterday. We were outplayed in all facets of the game.

The Indy game should have been won. Our defense and special teams played exceptionally well.

A loss is a loss, but at least with a blowout you can tip your cap to the other team and know that they were clearly better.

You saw a lot less kids crying in the OHSAA Football games this past week that were blowouts than the ones that were decided in the final minutes.

Of course I am.

I'm just hopeful that this type of humiliation will drive him to get better for the next game. I don't think Johnny is the type of guy to wilt under the pressure.

A loss isn't a loss when you don't score a point and you get embarrassed in front of 50% of the country.

Guys actually played well against Indy. Now, it's a regression. Your newest savior at QB shat the bed in spectacular fashion.

I get he is a rookie but I amazed how utterly lost he looked out there most of the time. I figured with most of a season to absorb the playbook he would and work on mechanics he should have looked at least marginally better. To me this screams lack of preparation and work ethic.

He refused to throw from the pocket. I'd like to see some video of where his receivers were each time he bailed out. I find it hard to believe that receivers weren't getting open into the same spots they were for Hoyer...

This guy is Charlie Frye...

From what I've generally watched, the young QB's that struggle early on and end up successful usually throw a little late or a little early and pad the interception stats with deflected balls.

They don't have severe problems with footwork, bailing from the pocket and flat out panic. These were not the major issues for guys like Peyton Manning, Aikman, Brees who ended up being extremely successful at the pro level.

I'd really like to see them show a willingness to cut bait if this continues for the next two games, which it will, AND the right QB is on the board.

Look at the bright side. We traded Trent Richardson for him. We didn't trade 3 firsts and a second. But honestly, give him another two games.

he just looked like a puppy where you do the ol' "act like you are throwing the ball and put it behind your back" trick.

He needs to take all the time this week when he isn't practicing to study that damn playbook and get prepared. Fuck it, ask Hoyer for help with the playbook. He has 2 games to try and show a glimmer of hope that he can learn/play. With his attitude I am sure he doesn't want to fail, so I hope he proves us all wrong.

He made a better use of spare time...

I could give a fuck if half the country thinks we suck, because it's one game. Those people aren't watching every game anyways. Would it make you feel all warm and fuzzy if they helicoptered in for a game that we played amazingly but the people who watch them every week (read: us) knew that it was an aberration?

Regression is the problem. If it becomes 2 or 3, and I'm talking about not only Johnny but our whole team playing like they did yesterday, then we have a serious problem.

By the way, he's OUR fucking QB. Whether you are a Johnny hater or a Johnny lover, he plays for the Cleveland Browns. If you truly support the name on the front of the jersey, then it does us no good to have wasted a pick on him. All of us are entitled to our opinion about him, but we should all be hoping he pulls his head out of his ass and develops.

Actually, it was Trent and a 3rd rounder. And that 1st could have been Kelvin Benjamin- not that this team needs WRs but it could have been.
