Johnny Manziel: Swan Won't Return His Calls

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Actually, it was Trent and a 3rd rounder. And that 1st could have been Kelvin Benjamin- not that this team needs WRs but it could have been.

Yeah but drafting Manziel was the most fun moment we have had in 15 years. I say it was worth it even if he busts.

I went nuts when we drafted him, i was so happy.. your post gave me flashbacks lol
Oh the memories of him flashing Rey Maualaga's money sign as he walked in stage... That may have been a good moment for you but not for those of us who had other ideas for the 2 picks they traded to get him

I don't even really like any of the QB candidates in this draft that much. That's why, even though I'm not a fan personally, I'm all for giving our first round draft pick the chance to start next year.

One thing I'm damn tired of, is this team just drafting a Quarterback, because they really need one. Not because they really like the guy they're drafting.

It doesn't seem like any of the QB's we've drafted, were guys the organization really, really wanted.

They were default guys. Sure, you can make that case I guess with any QB's that's not taken number one. But organizations typically don't view the guys they've drafted the same way that we do. They invest in them. We always have this one foot in, and one foot out the door mentality.

I just never got the feeling Johnny was a guy they were 100% sold on to begin with. He was a big name, exciting, could bring back some buzz to Cleveland. So I think they were more sold on that, than what he can actually do to help our team.

These are turning into wasted draft picks. I'm sick of it. If they don't like a QB on the board, stop drafting them.

-5.0 from PFF. So he technically wasn't worse than 3 of Hoyer's last 4 starts (-2.8, -5.6, -5.0, -7.6). Still abysmal though.

he's a fun player and has only started one game so far, lets give him a chance

I figured Manziel would show adequate arm strength yesterday. The noodle arm showing has me concerned. He could have avoided the two picks with some drive on the ball.

It shows PFF penalizes QBs who sustained drives compared to bad performances full of 4 and outs. Get rid of the personal digs, its unreadable.

It's already been explained that the grades are based on a play-by-play breakdown of responsibilities.

Maybe "sustaining drives" falls by the wayside when grading quarterbacks play-to-play.

Of course, no other statistic takes it into account either...So there's that.

Seems like a rather arbitrary point to classify it as rendering the grading system as completely irrelevant.

...and that is the nail in the coffin for that dumb PFF quarterback ranking.

Pretty much what boobie said (minus the troll-bait at the end). Manziel had less opportunity to be bad - but he took full advantage of the little opportunity he had.

As I've stated before, I'm not a parishioner of the cult of JFF, but to write him off after 45 plays is silly. I have little to no optimism regarding his long-term prospects as a QB, but yesterday had almost no impact on that.

We were dominated in TOP 2:1. Part of that is on the offense's (and Manziel's) inability to sustain drives, but a big part of it was the defense's inability to stop the run. I think we were ahead of the chains on second down 2 or 3 times all day. Manziel's numbers were barely worse than Dalton's.

And Keys, the insinuation that PFF has a bias against Hoyer for his "ability to sustain drives" is laughable and beneath you, IMO.

I've never said that an algorhythm has bias against a player. I've said PFF stats shouldn't be the totem pole to which all performances are judged, because that is also what they said on their own website. Its a single lens among many through which you view play, not even close to the only lens.
