Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Wow. A Brad Lohaus comp. Blast from the past.

He was the other half with Theodore "Blue" Edwards for the Bucks on the original NBA Jam.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

I like it. We need more options to spread the floor and he is young with some upside.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Etwuan Moore next please...
JaJuan Johnson also might be released.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

I was hoping Cavs would take a chance on Leuer

He looked decent for the Bucks when he got time and is going to be Erden's replacement since Semih went to Turkey iirc

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Championship.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

This is a straight-up baller move. Jon Leuer will be the white PF version of Jeremy Lin, averaging 25 and 12 his first 5 starts.

Hell, and he's cheaper than that Teletovic or whatever dude, too.

Since some are saying that they wanted this guy with our 2011 2nd rounder, we could kinda look at it like we got both of Orlando's 2nds for free since we got the guy some wanted anyway.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

The bigs are done now.

Kyrie/Gibson
Waiters/Azubukie
Gee/Casspi
Tristian/Leuer/Samuels/Harangody
Andy/Zeller

12 spots (assuming Walton is bought out)

3 spots left over

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

It's been awesome watching Zeller outrun the bigs he has been guarded by in the SL. With that in mind, looking at Leuer's combine #'s, he had a faster 3/4 court sprint, lane agility time, max vert, more bench reps, and a higher standing reach. If anything, the Cavs bigs just got a lot more athletic this offseason with the additions of Zeller and Leuer to go along with Tristan and the loss of half of Samardo Samuels. Its going to be fun watching this team run the floor on the break.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

With the way are big men are going to run the floor, our fast breaks are going to be very exciting. Our front court is adding some skill with Zeller and now Leuer. I like it.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

I thought this guy had better numbers. I am pretty sure I recall seeing him on NBA.com's Rookie Ladder for quite some time.

Looking at his Game Log, when he got 20+ minutes, he pretty consistently put up 10-12 points each time.

Once February came, he pretty much stopped playing.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

He reminds me of a white Paul Pierce.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

This signing just further shows the cavs are going with speed, passing and game IQ over power and fancy moves.

This is what you need to counter the super teams.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Was hoping the Cavs would claim him. His game fits with what the Cavs need with their current PF/C group. Leuer will never be a star but has a chance to have a long career as a decent role player and who knows maybe a little something more.

When young affordable players become available I'm all for bringing them in. Seems the Cavs have passed on some low risk chances the last few years so nice to see them take one here.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Solid move.

Bucks were high on him for at the beginning of the year, but got lost in the shuffle of 7 power forwards- especially after the Bogut injury. After that they were forced to play Drew Gooden in the middle just to score points, and basically had to play defense-only Mbah a Moute just to cover Gooden's ass on defense. Anyway, a good "get"- seems very coachable.
