Neither of them are good rebounders, but Leuer's shooting efficiency and ability to stretch the floor make him a legit NBA prospect .. and Samardo isn't there yet.

The most impressive thing to me is that not only was Leuer efficient on his jumpers (44.2 eFG%), but he was even better when he got inside (64.3%). Another plus is that he can get his shots from the flow of the offense.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

JuJuan is a nba player, but you should know as a fellow boilermaker, you know Etwuan is most likely not a legit NBA player

yeah, would rather take jajuan over e'twaun, even though there's not much room for more bigs

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Can't go wrong with this guy .. seems to have "gator arms" much like Zeller. On the surface, I would guess that he will be brought in and fight for a roster spot with Luke Harangody.

Of all the posters on the board, W & G was the last one I expected to bring up the wingspan issue with another Cavaliers player.

For now, we are fighting mister.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

We bring on big Z to coach up our bigs and we acquire not one, but TWO big men who can stretch the floor and shoot jumpers. Also, Leuer is actually a pretty quick player and can put the ball on the deck if he needs to. If he's matched up against bigger, slower PFs, he can be a mismatch and tire them out (which would equal the size mismatch on the other end). Because he is still developing into his body, even after 4 years, I still think he'll have alot of possibilities as a rebounder. At Wisconsin, he and Taylor were the ONLY guys getting the ball on offense, and he still got his shots and made them. A freak injury slowed him down a little at UW, but he will put up buckets, especially with Kyrie and Dion running the pick and ______ offense.

I really like how we have a game plan, and we are putting together pieces that work. Not just throwing together a few all-stars and hoping that they can figure out a way to play together and mesh their games (like that team down south).

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Leuer is Center sized. He looks like he has a massive frame. Man, that is a hell of a stretch the floor offense with size if you use Zeller and Leuer together. That lane is going to be wide open for Kyrie and Dion to drive very soon.

Interesting thought. They would spread the floor quite a bit. Not sure how the defense would be, but that is an intriguing pair.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

I see the Cavs are doing the OKC build a little differently. We are getting guys who can drive like Presti did with the Thunder, but we are getting bigs who can open the lane and stretch the floor so our drivers can...well drive.

I noticed this season a team with so man guys who can drive (like the Thunder and Cavs) need bigs who can shoot the 3. I like it.

Cavs arent doing the OKC build at all. Im curious if when presti was building his team if everyone talking about it made references to the mcloskey bad boys builds. In fact Presti was in a near identical situation when he took over in seattle as mcloskey was in the 80's in detroit.

Roster wise the cavs will be alot closer to the dumars thomas backcourt than to the westbrook durant wing set.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

not a bad signing (claiming?) at all but the front court sure is getting crowded...

U can never have enough good bigs..the roster before this offeseason at PF was so disgustingly weak..now it's getting better quality.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Tyler Zeller playing the role of Bill Lambeer ?

As far as I remember, Bill developed his tough guy routine in Detroit. All I remember of him in his short time in Cleveland was a tall skinny C who could shoot some.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Like having some bigs who can shoot but I still think you need a go to guy in the post and the Cavs still lack that. One of OKC's problems is they lack a good low post scoring threat.
Leuer is a nice low risk pickup though, fills a need and also is the type of small move the Cavs need to continue to look to make.

Re: Cavs Sign Jon Leuer (claimed off waivers)

Don't see any post players coming in unless the Bynum deal happens (which they could be gearing up for considering all the bigs they are bringing on). If no Bynum, I assume they stand pat until the draft.

Other big need is a SF who can really knock 'em down. Pietrus? Delfino? I know they plan on bringing back Gee, but I think you need more unless they think Azabuikie is ready for minutes there and is 100% healthy now.
