Gordon suspension reduced to 10, 12 if convicted of DWI

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
yayyyyyyyy, another week.

I would just run him through the conditioning drills and some of the QB only drills, I wouldn't even put him in full plays. Just going to be a tease and you will have to change it anyway. Might as well get the guys who are going to play experience with the plays.

So Ray Rice gets 2 games for knocking out his wife b/c she played the "let's touch every floor button in the elevator trick heheh" and Gordon is going to AT BEST miss 8 games for smoking...seems legit.

And Justin Blackmon is on a roll....

Whether you disagree with pot being a banned substance or not the fact is it's illegal under the NFL substance abuse guidelines and therefore Gordon deserves what he will get.

A point can be made that what Ray Rice did was so much worse than anything Gordon has done but the punishments for off the field issues not related to substance abuse are pretty vague and no where near as cut and dry. That being said, 2 games for knocking your wife out cold in a hotel elevator then dragging her is absurdly low.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing that Gordon deserves his suspension. He broke the rules, even if they are stupid.

I think the argument is how hypocritical the NFL is regarding suspensions. Beating your wife? Eh, whatever, take two games off. Smoked some pot? HOW DARE YOU?!? It's just ridiculous. The punishment should fit the crime, and I think we can all agree that domestic violence is worse than weed.

Yes. Completely agree Gordon should be suspended. He has broken the rules how many times. But to give him a full year and Rice only 2 games with a $58,000 fine (like he gives a shit) is absurd.

Give Gordon 8 games and make him attend 2-3 substance abuse classes a week. Counseling. Make him the new Bubble Boy. I don't care. Someone needs to get his mind right. His mother? Father? Someone needs to get it through his head if he fucks up again, his career/life is done.

While I do agree with the NFL suspending Josh Gordon of course, a full 16 game ban doesn't seem logical at this point.

You ban him for 16 games (which ultimately means he can't attend practices, team meetings, can't stand on sidelines) that will further push him into position to worsen himself. So the NFL better not mess this up. They know what they're dealing with. These are young hot heads that really don't learn from their first couple of mistakes.

I think 8 games will be suitable for Josh. He can recover from that by staying in team facilities getting the help he needs to turn himself around.

Anything more than 8 games, and you can kiss Josh Gordon goodbye forever..

I don't give a fuck what the NFL rules are. NFL is going to have a terrible perception problem only giving Ray Rice 2 games for beating his wife. Sad.

Everyone will forget about this just like everything else in the country after his suspension is over if not way before when ESPN and the NFL sweep it under the rug.

Should have used the backhand, Ray.

The NFL really doesn't give a shit what the public thinks or even use common sense. They do what they want. This whole thing is a sham.

The arrogance of the NFL front office never ceases to amaze me.

Josh Gordon commits what would equate to a minor fine in court and faces a year suspension. Ray Rice is arrested for felony aggravated assault, with a maximum penalty that includes years in prison, and gets 2 games. Totally logical.

I understand the NFL is a standalone institution and can have whatever rules and regulations it likes, but it seems like maybe the actual court system could be used as a guide for establishing these rules and guidelines.

I also think that the NFL should put a greater focus on treating idiots like Gordon who clearly have substance abuse issues rather than simply punishing them. Kicking him out of the league for a year does more harm to him than having him around and under the scrutiny of fellow players and coaches would because he effectively loses that potential support system.

I also think that, if you commit a violent crime, it should be a much harsher minimum penalty, as violent crimes are obviously worse than most substance-related crimes.

For everyone justifying Josh Gordon's year long suspension because he 'broke the law'... domestic violence/assault is a MUCH more serious criminal offense... apples to oranges here

Rice got off easy because he was never convicted of anything.

She tripped, I believe.
