JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just a better fit between Irving and LeBron.

One of things that most people overlooked when the trade happen.

His games meshes well with both and he really knows where to be when he spaces the floor.

He will get better chemistry with Love as well because he can give a great entry pass in the post.

It almost looks like JR Smith is fixing some chemistry issues with this team.

Since Andy went down no one has looked like they were having fun on the court. JR Smith, at least on the court, appears thrilled to be with the Cavs right now. It's showing up in his energy and effort and it's been contagious the last few games. Or Lebron could just be actually trying. Also possible.

Never thought I'd hear this. Not saying you're wrong or even if it will last. Just never thought I'd hear it.

Does he stay in the starting lineup or is he better served off the bench when Shump returns?

That's simple. He's here to be the 6th man scorer, he'll be coming off the bench.

Thats the way I figured. However, he mentioned them meshing so well. I'm not sure for long periods of time its best for all 3 to be on the floor.

I'd bring in JR for Kyrie off the bench. Either make LeBron the backup pg or put Shump there.

Shump should be the starter, because we need all the help on defense we can get. That's not to say JR won't get more minutes over him, depending on how the game is going.

I love this guy. I can't believe I'm saying that.

What's great about things now is that Smith is clearly helping us and the guy we traded to get Smith is doing well with his new team.

How about that? A win-win trade so far.

I like how he isn't even a rhythm player Streaky, yes, but the rhythm of the game doesn't matter. He can go from ice cold to red hot within seconds.

He actually plays pretty smart basketball. He's got good hands, he attacks ball handlers pretty well, and he's got good anticipation. He isn't taking possessions off(because he's always trying to get a chance to shoot, heh). He's athletic and not short, which is an underrated aspect because this team sorely needed that and it will be even better with Shumpert adding more length and athleticism.

Smith is fitting in well here and he definitely has some good years left in him. His contract is not that bad. He was a really good pick-up for what we gave up.

JR is going to be on the court during stretches of the the game with all 3.

His game works with all 3.

Never said he should or would start.

But, but... We gave up Dion's upside! Dion has the higher ceiling!

Smith is not an upgrade over waiters.

He takes bad shots and is a defensive liability.

Terrible.

Smith is a veteran former 6th man of the year who literally does everything better than Dion in almost every category except maybe on the defensive side of the ball where he is either slightly better or on par with Dion.

He's a breath of fresh air for this offense because he plays uptempo, doesn't hold the ball for long periods of time, and his jumpshot is solid mechanically whether he's on or not. This is the veteran savvy this team needed to play alongside LeBron and others. He's not a guy that needs the ball in his hands to be effective and will make the extra pass as he probes the defense for opportunities.

He's always going to be a guy that takes bad shots but the difference between he and Dion is that he makes them at a much higher clip.

Like I said I am not hating him, but his defense is really bad. He is in a honeymoon phase as will, so everyone should still temper their expectations.
