JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm amazed at how good of a floor game Smith has. Moves the ball, gets in passing lanes. Not what I expected at all. Watching the games I find myself saying, "Gosh, it seems like J.R. gets a couple of steals every night." Since joining the Cavs, Smith is averaging 1.7 steals a game, which would have him tied for 12th in the league over the whole season.

3. I was chatting with Smith’s dad, Earl, prior to today’s game. When I flippantly mentioned that Smith seemed to like playing in Cleveland, Earl corrected me. “No, he LOVES it.”

This sounds like something that would be happening with the Spurs.

There have been plenty of great teams, but many of them have been dominated by a few great players, and a bunch of hangers-on. They like the winning, but they're not always enjoying the ride.

That doesn't seem to be the case here. Players seems to actually like the style of basketball this team plays. Everybody, including LBJ, seems to have bought into it. That's a tremendous testament to themselves, to the coaches for implementing that system and managing the personalities, and to Griffin for putting together the ingredients to make it work.

We finally have not just a great team, but a great culture.

Who would've thunk it when the trade was made, that JR would be one of the most popular faces in the Cleveland Hero Squad. I remember saying when we got him: "this is going to either be something special, or a ticking time bomb." It's wonderful to know that the "something special" version of JR truly is everything imaginable when it comes to a contributor and a perfect fit for this team.

But what's more - on a personal level - it seems a guy like JR needed a city like Cleveland, just as much as Cleveland needed him. So pleased that he's loving playing here.

I remember over the summer David Griffin said he was striving for a roster and organization that felt like a family, one that players would come to and never want to leave. Huge props to him for making that a reality and I'm glad J.R. is having fun in the 216.

I know, right? I mean the nerve of some of our fans, to actually like the team, the players, and the unfolding process of the regular season.

Especially after the run of excellence we've had the past four years, you'd think we'd hold them to a much higher standard instead of getting excited by these meaningless wins.

I for one will be ready to burn down some players and coaches houses and kidnap their firstborns if they don't deliver the championship this year that we are working so hard for as fans.
