JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Smith opts out, I make a big effort to try and retain him at a reasonable value. If he won't be reasonable, invest in Shumpert. But I don't see why J.R. would take too much to retain unless he goes Jason Terry-2011 Mavs-style- in the playoffs and if he does that...PAY THE MAN.

I actually wrote about and broke down the bench reaction to the dunk for GQ today. Check it out: http://www.gq.com/blogs/the-feed/2015/02/the-cavs-are-really-really-good-celebration-edition.html

someone tell Love he needs to work on his fake heart attack. It'd be great to see him go all Fred G Sanford

All we heard when we traded for this guy is:

1.) Laughing
2.) He's a headcase
3.) He's a chucker

Well, we just saw him COMPLETELY sacrifice his offensive game tonight in order to concentrate on Klay.

We even saw him pass up a couple of wide open looks from downtown to keep the ball moving.

Smith has been an absolute blessing in disguise for this team.

I saw this too. And, like you, I was appreciative. I believe you've spoke in other threads about the goal of creating a culture that players won't want to part from. Posters should check out Dan Pink's book on motivation, as I think this might be part of the rationale. Pink summarizes the academic research on motivation, and one of the primary findings of this research is that once individuals feel "fairly compensated" for their work, other things become more important. When you're a team bumping up against the salary cap, this sort of thing becomes important. Thanks for all you do, Mo.

You know, a concern about this team is a lack of playoff experience outside of LeBron - but JR showed me tonight that he does know what it takes to win. He really did totally sacrifice his offensive game and because of it was a huge reason we won. I cannot believe so many of us thought he was a throw in to the trade. He's an absolute difference maker.

J.R. has been in 51 playoff games and he has hit big shots. He's experienced.

Just ringing the same bell as everyone else. JR will hustle, fight through screens, move his feet, use his hands, and get up in guys on the perimeter. not a lockdown defender per se, but uses all the controllable elements of how to play good defense and it made an impact tonight.

I wish he could come into this thread and understand how much we are all appreciating his effort, but I imagine his teammates and coaching staff are letting him know.
