JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
it was a weird play, Crowder was leaning on JR's back, JR rotated his shoulder to clear him off, but Crowder moved further away while it happened. At no point did Smith look at Crowder. When you rotate your shoulder your arm/hand have to move faster unless you bend your elbow. Had Crowder been where he was, a bent elbow there would be an ejection.

Keeping his arm straight as Crowder moved further away made the whole thing look as bad as possible. But I don't see how the end result here could possibly be seen as the intent when the video is carefully looked it.

Given his history and everything that happened earlier in the game, he'll probably get suspended. I'm just not sure it's justified because I really don't see how JR intended to hit Crowder in the face since he couldn't possibly know he was that far away.

I misspoke in the game thread, there isn't a mandatory one-game suspension for a flagrant-2 foul. The league is going to review the play, and I'm guessing he misses a game or two for making direct contact to Crowder's face.

He wasn't intentionally aiming for his head --- Crowder started crumbling before JR even hit him --- but contact to head is contact to the head. I'm just hoping he doesn't get fined as well.

That's like laker fans saying Artest didn't know where or how close Artest was to him.

Not cool, J.R. I know he was trying to send a message/stand up for his teammate, but the Perkins altercation was good enough for me.

If Smith is out multiple games, that's really going to fuck us over.

It was Jae Crowder not much to mess up by hitting him in the head. It may actually do some good.

What? Like, what? I said I think he's getting suspended, he made unnecessary contact with someone's head. I don't think it was intentional though.

I think JR swung his arm back to catch Crowder's arms, which had just been pushing him on his upper neck. Crowder's knee was planted weird and inexplicably gave out on him before he was hit though, lowering his arms and letting JR's swing hit him squarely in the face.

Geez; where are all these people coming from? Slink back to where you came from. Goodness. How the hell did JR know where chouder was? He was falling behind him. JR simply swatted his arm back and happened to catch his face. So F'em what? If the refs would have taken control of the game in the 1st quarter like they should have when KLove was molested, we wouldn't be where we are right now.

So is it possible he'll miss more than one game?

It's possible the NBA could lay the hammer down and suspend him for awhile.

Since he got ejected in the third quarter...I'd say the most likely scenario is a hefty fine and a 1 game suspension. Small chance without enough lobbying that it's just a really hefty fine, same small chance that it's 2+ games.

I really don't think it was that bad. Smith totally tried to whack him, but it wasn't like a thrown elbow. I dunno, it seemed dumb, but not that bad to me. Sad Crowder's leg crumpled that was not good.

The Perk foul was worse IMO. I think we could be looking at 2 suspensions.

I expect JR gets whacked for 2 games to set an example. Shump is going to have to keep it going, hopefully.

That video is just so damning. Looks worse and worse every time I see it. It just wasn't a natural movement. He wound up and swung with what looked like a closed fist. You're kidding yourself if you don't think he's getting suspended for multiple games.

He is definitely gone for game one.

My main fear is that it looks like crowder sustains a significant knee injury during the play as a result of the fall. If news comes out that he was severely injured on the play I hope it doesn't increase the ban.
