So long, Kay Felder

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There have been 2 other players under 5'10" drafted, Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas. Both succeeded.

Spud Webb, Mugsy Bogues, and the undrafted Earl Boykins have had good careers too. We've all seen taller players fumbled their career way way worse than those guys. All we have to do is take a look at this kid's talent and see where it gets us.

Important thing is to factor on what he does well:

-Elite athletically
-High Level scorer
-Led country in assists so can run an offense
-highest PER in college basketball
-performed at his best against power five opponents
-super competitive/chip on shoulder

If it were just 2-3 or those things, I'd be more skeptical. Put all that stuff together and he just seems like a guy who is likely to make some sort of impact in the league, hopefully with the Cavs down the road as a PG off the bench who can both run the offense in short stints and provide instant scoring.

If he can do both of those things, than in the right lineups, his height disadvantage on defense can be mitigated.

No did not mean it like haha he can't guard Curry.

That is not the point right now... He is a rookie who never played an NBA game and can learn. So who cares at this point that was a dumb thing to say. The Cavs are not drafting a guy 57th who is a known scored to guard one if not the best shooter in the game. Come on man get that weak stuff outta here.

I mean if he was half a foot taller this kid is a sure-fire lottery pick. And since the league is trending smaller, he has a real shot to prove himself anyway.

Getting him at the end of the 2nd round is a steal. The odds are stacked against him, but if he doesn't pan out the only thing you've lost is a bit of cash.

Hope he isn't another Keifer Sykes. Low risk. Could pay off.

Felder is on another planet compared to Sykes...

You could make the argument that Felder was the best college basketball player this past year, just he was knocked since he played in the Horizon League...I watched him almost single-handedly beat Michigan St. earlier this year...he's that good...

In his matchup this year against Washington(which is small school won by double digits) and Dejounte Murray, he had 38 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Yeah but he can't guard Curry... That is all that matters when drafting a player to the Cavs FO. come on man who cares about that when he can't guard Curry.

All I'm saying is our FO is championship caliber. Don't doubt The Griff. If he and LeBron see something in this kid, we gotta support that.

From everything I see, he seems like he has great potential and could develop if given some minutes. Problem is, I don't see us having any minutes to give. It would be hard to crack the rotation over Delly. And we have Mo. So unless we lose one of them, it might be hard to make the roster. Or maybe Dahntay leaves.

We could put him on the D League and wait a year to bring him in, but I'd want to give him a chance right away and let him learn from LeBron and the team. Putting people in the D League seems to never be a good confidence booster for players and it isn't the way I'd want to start. So I really hope he can make the roster and earn a spot in the rotation.
