Kevin Durant

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's quite impressive just how much Durant has closed the gap with LeBron since last season when there was still a pretty significant gap, as evidenced by the Thunder's struggles when Westbrook went down in the playoffs. As of right now Durant is league MVP.

The only thing that will prevent Durant scoring over 30 right now is Durant himself (or if the Thunder are blowing someone out and he was passing out of doubles all game long). Amazing run. I wonder how long it'll last... Can't wait to find out.

Well, Russ coming back can prevent 30 for Durant as well. It's a net positive getting Westbrook back, but a lot of the forced shots Russell takes, would be better served in KD's hands.

Loved watching KD plant the flag in Miami though. Some of those momentum killing 3's were straight daggers. I swear I could hear Bill Raftery yelling "onions" from Bristol.

Kevin Durant has been the league's MVP to this point this season...

:hide:

Why are you hiding? You'd be hard pressed to find someone on the other side of that argument right now.

I love seeing half the arena empty at a Heat's home game....especially when a superstar like Durant comes to town lol.

I haven't watched a lot of Durant this year but you can see a noticeable difference in his defense. I'm impressed. Plus his offense was absolutely amazing today. I wanted to see him pull up from half court just because he probably could.

He's definitely been the MVP. But I still think the gap is pretty large between LB, and him, Look, they're at different ages. Kevin physically is in his prime. LB with all the injuries with Wade, etc, he's at the point in his career where he has to pace himself. He's 29, although not old, but older, and has to pace his body more compared to a guy that's 25.

LB is pacing himself, yet still shooting nearly 60% from the field. No doubt Durant is a better scorer, but I still think LB is pretty soundly the best in the NBA. I mean, let's talk June and we then will see where its at.

Um yeah now and that's thanks to my declaration. :chuckles:

But really because I just wasn't sure where people stood on it. There is a group of fans that are of the mindset that whichever player holds the proverbial championship belt as the "World's Best Player" (most probably still owned by LeBron) deserves to win every year no matter what the resumes for that season are exactly.

He's having one of the most dominant yet efficient seasons of the last decade and a half.

In January he averaged 35.9 ppg 6.1 rpg 6.1 apg .9 bpg & 1.6 spg
He did that shooting .549/.436/.890 and scored 40 points 5 times.

February he's averaging 33.6 ppg 7.7 rpg 7.2 apg & 1.2 spg
Shooting .484/.305/.847 and has scored 40 points 3 times.

Overall, he's at 31.6/5.5/7.7 with a PER of 30.65 this season on a slash line of .509/.403/.878.

Oh yeah, and he's only 25!!!! That's so incredible. Really, he's just hitting his prime now and will be in it for the next several seasons. Pretty scary to think how good he could be at his pinnacle, because I don't think he's reached it yet.

the fact that his ts% was actually higher last year is kind of bizarre when you think about it. slight uptick from 55.9% to 56.2% in efg% tho haha

he has a very good chance to be better then lebron

I mean they are pretty close now and hes what 4 years younger than him?

And he is only getting better. I remember when you cool ups double him and he'd wouldn't make the best play. Now he is a playmaker who makes his teammates better.

How is Durant's defense? League average? Slightly above?

I'm not sure to be honest.

Jesus. Those numbers seem like they've been ripped out of NBA 2k. You would think I'd be use to seeing broken numbers like this because LBJ played here, but it still shocks me.

above average.

worse than lebron (well, playoff-lebron when he is not conserving energy) and george. better than almost all other big name sfs.
