I think it is probably standard practice to wait a few weeks anyway.

They'll want the pain and potentially any swelling to subside and they'll also want his range of motion to improve before operating.

He's probably going to go through pre-hab, get it feeling better and then they'll do surgery.

In the event Kevin insists on trying to play, the timeline for surgery probably lines up with the finals. That means they could potentially hold off to see if there's any chance he responds to rest and treatment.

When you're talking a 4-6 month recovery, a few more weeks isn't a huge deal. It's likely he's going to miss the beginning of the regular season next year, so a few more weeks in October or November doesn't really matter IMO.
