I have a feeling he is not healthy.. but that is only part of the problem. He has been very soft and fragile IMO. Honestly, based on this season alone you say "man this guy is not worth a max contract" We all know he is better then this, but he has nothing holding him here for next year.

He came to play with superstar Lebron and contend for titles. Right now he must feel like he is playing with a much less powerful version of Lebron, and a team with no help inside. If this team gets bounced early in the playoffs, and he feels lost on this team I highly doubt he will return. It really depends on how the rest of the season unfolds, but if this team continues to struggle then losing Love is a very serious possibility. I would still do the trade 10 of 10 times, because I doubt Wiggins ever reaches super star status, but I was expecting much more effective play from Love then we have seen so far.

Dude is practically screaming for the ball on the block. I'm not even really sure why you say he isn't demanding it. But they don't often ignore him there.

My issue is the utter and complete lack of pick n pop with potentially the most deadly pick n pop player not named Dirk in this league. AND the idea that Love is almost always told to go stand weak side and wait like he's Joe Harris.

I think the problem with Kevin Love, is that, well, he doesn't move particularly well, and I just never get the sense both Kyrie and LeBron are comfortable playing with him.

His production on the block, hasn't been that great at all. He gets his shot blocked an awful lot. 14% of his shots around the basket, are blocked.

I wouldn't mind seeing more pick and pop, but Kevin is definitely accountable. There are times in the game, where he's not more assertive, and doesn't move very well to get open.

One thing is certain, he's literally dead in quick sand at times, and is absolutely awful moving without the ball. Well, obviously, guys like Kyrie and LB have it in their hands a lot, and it doesn't always seem to mesh well with Kevin.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Kevin for all his struggles. It's definitely a combination of things.

I still think it leaves one to question, if he's been healthy all this time. He's been given opportunities do things. He's not going to get the ball every single time, this is a new role for him. He's no longer the lonely alpha on this team.

For some surprising reason, he's struggling the most out of our top-3.

I think it's time for Love to get fired up and stop running away from the ball like the ball is on fire...

Demand the ball Mr. Love!

These next 2 weeks are going to tell us a lot about Kevin Love.

a few observations:
1. love likes to run to his spots and make jumpshots. he's a rhythm shooter. running to his spot to shoot gives him rhythm unlike how he's been used here where he's a spot up shooter only

2. love is great in the high post as a facilitator and scorer. a great player to have in princeton offense where there are many back door plays and back cuts.

3. he loves the left box to post up and make a turn to his patented right hook or make a left turn fadeaway. he looks physically imposing on these clips and can create space when he bumps his man unlike what we are seeing as a cavs where he loses the ball alot on his post ups.

4. love is not just a spacer in minnesota, he's the focal point on offense.. he sets screens but also he's been given multiple screens to give him open looks..

5. love strives when he is paired with an imposing center.. he gets to freelance on the offensive boards, he gets free when the center screens for him off ball, and he can cheat on defense.

6. the fake hand-offs then a step back three/jumper is deadly.. cant believe we're not seeing that with LBJ and kyrie running towards love..

EDIT:

the cavs can run an entire offensive system with love on the left high post and lbj at the right high post and kyrie having the ball(horns).. maximize love's/lbj's high post offense/passing and kyrie's pick n roll/breakdown the defense offensive capabilities.. no more cutesy weave action.. it was great at first but the nba has adjusted to it..

I wanted to revisit this post as it full of insight.

The first bolded point: I went back and researched a lot of Love highlights and you are correct. Most of his highlights involve him coming off of screens almost like a guard and then "rhythming" himself into threes and them later hitting spot up threes. It's interesting because you would just assume open spot up threes are easier to hit for everyone since you're not expending energy to get to your spots so you theoretically have more energy in the legs to hit that shot.

The third bolded point: yes. He was creating space off of the initial bump which allowed him to play bully ball inside which then allowed him to draw fouls at a very high rate. He doesn't seem to have strength or confidence to execute that very same play this year.

The fifth bolded point: Windy mentioned the same thing--he's not used to having to expend so much energy doing so much if the dirty work which in turns affects his second half offense.

The sixth bolded point: The Wolves were successful with this play although I don't know if anyone feels comfortable with that type of shot versus an open spot up shot although Love seems to like that shot.

James is out. Let's see if we maximize a 59% TS, 26 ppg talent.

defensively the cavs is still a lost cause.. still needs a center that can hide love and kyrie's defeciencies.. no more high hedging on pick and rolls.. it really puts pressure on the cavs lack of weakside help and shot blocking..

Amazing post. Esp the bolded.

It's really annoying how bad we are at getting the ball to Love. The Hornets were trying to take him away in the 4th and we made it really easy for them. There are numerous ways to get him the ball besides pick and fade or posting him up. The coaches should check his Minnesota highlights for some ideas, because they seem to have no clue. We aren't going to win many games with Kyrie/Waiters combining to shoot 16-48.

If we had gone to Love more in the 4th quarter, this game would have been won much easier.

I don't know when Blatt and the team are going to figure it out, but this failure to get Love the ball is a real impediment to the team's success at the moment. Thank goodness we still pulled out the win.
