Great points being made about Love as a spacer, and lately James and Irving have been getting to the rack with ease. No question the two are related.

Plus, if Love is hurting (pretty obvious), I would think less post touches would be a way to spare him some additional wear and tear if we can get away with it.

Hopefully he can get healthy over the break and maybe we'll see him use his whole game down the stretch and in the playoffs, where we would need it most.

I'm dealing with chronic lower back pain now myself and that shit not only hurts but it's very mentally discouraging. You get frustrated because no amount of work can stop the pain from eventually coming. You can stretch and workout and that'll prolong the pain but eventually it comes every time. So the passive attitude I can definitely see being the back pain. I get to that point as well where ,I'm just like screw it, don't pass to me unless I'm wide open. I can tell he's having back pain because of that running posture he has in games at times. Dude walks around like an old man in some games

At the end of the day, you simply can't run the offense through three players. It's difficult enough running it through two.

One of the big three will need to consistently be used as decoy to open up scoring opportunities for the remaining two. Seeing as James and Irving are best at scoring in traffic and creating good shots with limited space, the logical move has been to use Love in a lot of spot up opportunities.

It seems, though, that the offense runs through Love in the first quarter (at the elbow, in the post), let him score about 8-10 points, thereby establishing him as a threat the rest of the game.

It makes the rest of the game easier for the other 2 stars.

A long week off is what KL needs and somehow detractors aren't ready to accept and give time for him to have it.

Great point. Didn't think about it that way.
If he scores quick points in the first, it will always be in the back of the defender's mind.

i'm not among the crowd who thinks he has played bad so far but i must say just from watching him play this season this stat really surprised me. without looking up any of his numbers i would have guessed he has been average at best as a post scorer this year...
I think the idea behind it is it is his efficiency. I.E., he probably doesn't go to the post that frequently; however, when he does he usually scores and sometimes gets a free throw tacked on. That's my interpretation anyways.

Just consider that there's a freaking movement to get Kyle Korver to the ASG because of the SPACING he provides. Never mind his low usage and pedestrian stats, it's the SPACING. And the shooting percentages, of course, but it's all about the SPACING.

So how about someone who's nearly as effective in spacing, but has higher usage, scores more himself, rebounds like a maniac and has even played passable defense late? I think that's valuable, even rare.

I agree Korver is going into almost uncharted territory. His stats are so bad he might be only the second player to ever have 50/50/90

Did you miss my very next sentence about shooting percentages or were you just looking to pick a fight? Of course i meant his 13ppg, 3apg and 4rpg. That's pedestrian. Not bad, but nothing outstanding.

Not doing much besides rebounding...we have approximately three months to get this guy right. He is way better than this.

They haven't tried to involve Love in the whole second half. Again, they're not getting him into a good position to score. Love can't create much from the perimeter. This has to be frustrating for him.

Kevin has been doing a lot of things well.

Rebounding
Throwing great outlet passes
Setting solid screens
Taking charges (team leader)
Playing much better defense

The only thing he really hasn't been doing well is shooting the ball.

He's mired in a slump that he can hopefully shake down the stretch but ignoring the little things he's doing, simply because he isn't scoring, is a bit shortsighted.

Kevin had a +26 tonight, the highest on the team. Clearly he's doing some things right.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why we don't give Love looks in the post in the 4th quarter, especially when we have the lead. Why not slow the game down and let Love do some damage in the post for a few plays?

People are getting on Love this year for only showing up in the 1st quarter. But that is mainly because that is the only time we give him quality opportunities to make a play. I really am not liking how we are using him past the 1st quarter of games.
