Are there not occasions that the shoulder goes back in smoothly and hurts, but is basically ok? It wasn't super violent like a dislocation often is.

From what i understand, no. Mine wasnt a full dislocation popped out and back in on its own. Full dislocation has to be manipulated back into place

The way the dr explained it to me for it to pop out at all you have to severly stretch or even tear the surrounding ligaments and thats where the recovery problem lies.

Its really hard to tighten the area up to a point that its stable enough not to recur during the course of a bball game.

The next day was really gross even tiny movements of my shoulder made this grinding crunching sound.

To be fair, things can turn around in the blink of an eye in this league. Right now the Cavs are cooking and Love is having a good time. Fans are now laughing at the thought he ever entertained leaving. But all it takes is a series against the Bulls that goes awry including a Love shooting slump and people/the media will be right back on the Love leaving bandwagon. For the record, I do not think he has any desire to leave. Just commenting on how fast things can change in this league.
Sadly this post was spot on

One of my pet peeves on here are all the armchair doctors, to be honest. Just couldn't stay quiet about it any longer.

Yeah Im in the wrong thread, sorry.

I had arthroscopic capsulorraphy surgery on my left shoulder in 2009, which I continually had problems with subluxating (sustained blunt injury while playing basketball in 2000).

Assuming there is no structural damage - It's almost a gaurantee he'll be back within 1-2 weeks, IMHO. Now, will that mean he'll be 100% or that he might not have it subluxate again? No. Does it mean he still may need to have surgery? Possibly. It's possible that rest and physical therapy would suffice.

Again, if there is no structural damage aside from bruising, he will be back sooner than later. If it's dislocated - he may be done for the year.

I dont comment on injuries unless im very confident. I was spot on on the verajao achilles minutes after it happened and got a bunch of disagrees on that as well.

We're obviously all frustrated. We've invested so much into this team and the season and championship hopes may now hinge on news that we probably will not get until tomorrow. We all just have to hope for the best - that this isn't an injury that will put him out for the rest of the postseason.

We still have this guy named LeBron James on the team. If Love is out for an extended period of time, there is still hope for this team.

What is your take on how long Love is out? I could have played after a week or 2 after my first subluxation (we're assuming this isn't a dislocation).

I actually was put back in the game after my shoulder popped out but took myself out after I realized it wasn't going to work lol.

I'm actually really appreciative of the intelligent posts by the few guys with real world experience. I value that a lot more than some doctor tweeting based on video.

Nothing wrong with folks voicing their opinions based on their own first hand accounts.

And wow Olynik needs to get a big suspension to start the next season. There is a difference between playing hard and deliberately hurting the guy. Disgusting player.

No idea man. Best case a subluxation back in 2 weeks but will not be the same.

Just looking at the pic where he is clutching it i dont think it was just a subluxation. All going to come down to the extent of the damage.

Only slight positive is that its his left side. They could conceivably put him out there to stretch the floor but hed be close to useless down low rebounding

Im just going to pretend that pic was photoshopped and that when i wake up its a simple strain :fingersx:

I'm pretty sure a doctor would know way more. No personal problem with anyone who does this, obviously, and if you enjoy it that's fine too. Just voicing my opinion.
