That's the problem when all your best players are under 30. Young guys don't have to take pay cuts . Can't even ask them too. Now what would really help us is if Lebron took around 13 mil and if Andys deal could come down. Lebron by himself could get us at least Shumpert and Delly long term . But then again the way Lebron has played for this team I dare you to ask him to take a paycut. Dude deserves Kobe money 100%

lebron can't take a pay cut. The top players have agreed with the union that they are not going to settle for less than the max as it sets a bad negotiating example for everyone else. And they're right to have that attitude after the way they got screwed in revenue split.

Plus, it would be a hundred-millionaire saving money for a guy worth almost $5 billion, where's the justice in that? Lebron's return alone increased the Cavs franchise value by more than Gilbert could ever pay back under the salary cap.

Let's get some perspective here. Gilbert's worth $4.8 billion. If he gets a 3% return on that annually (which is much less than what he probably gets as the major equity holder in the businesses he owns) that's $144 million in straight profit right there. If he can't afford a couple of tens of millions of dollars extra to hold together an actual or potential championship team, fans should lynch him. That's not even getting into that the investment just on its own is almost certainly worth it -- the increase in the profits and franchise value of the Cavs by being champions vs also-rans would be considerable I imagine. I wonder how much extra profit they get just for each additional playoff series they are in.

We can pay all our guys, in fact, I say it's imperative that we do so this year so their contracts are offset by the rising cap the following year.

Regarding AV, as a fourth big he should be stretched if he doesn't want to take a paycut. We can def find less expensive options out there.

Gilbert paid huge wages when we had a bunch of shitty players around LeBron. He's not going to do the opposite when we have finally assembled a truly great team.

Gilbert is a firm believer in the idea that you have to spend money to make money. That's not going to change.

How is AV supposed to take a pay cut when he's already under contract?

Not allowed. He could be stretched, but I doubt it will happen. Can't have enough depth with bigs. Especially talented ones.

That would help the Cavs, but it takes two to tango. We've heard a lot of rumblings that players (not just Cavs players, but NBA players) are going to wait until 2016 to sign long-term deals to take advantage of the larger cap.

If the Cavs win the Conference tonight, I would expect Love to be there as well. Maybe he'll have interviews again and can re-iterate his plan to stay to shut up the press once more

After watching the value of the franchise plummet after
Lebron went to Miami, no way Gilbert is going to pinch a few of his millions to have it happen again.

I don't think he's ever done that either. He's always been willing to take back millions of dollars on terrible contracts, just for draft picks.

If he did that, then I don't see him not re-signing everyone needed to make a championship run.

Kevin Love allowed to travel, lose sling after checkup with doctor

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love can travel with the team for the remainder of the postseason after having his left shoulder re-evaluated, general manager David Griffin confirmed to ESPN.com.

Love traveled to New York to have the shoulder looked at by Dr. David Altchek while the Cavs were in Atlanta for Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference finals last week against the Hawks, Griffin said.

Altchek, who performed the season-ending surgery on Love's dislocated left shoulder at the end of April, said the All-Star forward also resume traveling with the team and can stop wearing the sling he's used to stabilize the shoulder for the last month.

Love rejoined the Cavs for Game 3 in Cleveland on Sunday, sitting in the second row behind their bench.

Love averaged 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 47.1 percent from 3-point range in the first three games of the first round against theBoston Celtics before suffering the injury. He has not addressed the media since. Cleveland has gone 8-2 without him, sweeping Boston, beating the Chicago Bullsin six games, and taking a 3-0 series lead on the Hawks.

Love can opt out of the final year of his contract and become a free agent this summer.
