Kings Staying Put (was Sonics coming back)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the really sad thing in all of this is the fact that the NBA (at least, the 7 people who voted) want to keep the Kings in Sacramento so bad, they don't care if the city goes bankrupt over it.

Also that tidbit about the Maloofs not accepting any Kings deal? It was made in a letter to the NBA back in April 19th, it isn't current, the media is trying to spin it as current information.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Letter from Maloofs to NBA: "evidence .. convincing ... that there is no acceptable deal possible and no serious desire by the Sac group .."</p>&mdash; Tony Bizjak (@TonyBizjak) <a href="https://twitter.com/TonyBizjak/status/325308478719655936">April 19, 2013</a></blockquote>

Its old news that everyone knows.

it seems like there was some sort of bigger political tradeoff for Stern

The ability to hold cities hostage for new stadiums funded by taxpayers. The rest of the owners are glad to have the threat of moving the team be a reality and not just a scare tactic, without any of them having to be the bad guy.

Now this is officially antitrust and should not be allowed. If the league is actually telling the Maloofs to break a signed agreement under some sort of threat (not there is that we know of). If this is true the commissioner is definitely scared of what Hansen and Ballmer can do down the line.

He could also be scared that there isn't enough votes amongst the owners to block the sale to Hansen and Ballmer.

Will update as I find out more.

What a fucking joke this has become.

What a fucking joke this has become.

Again, the NBA advisory board or whatever already ruled that the team should stay in Sacramento, so I don't know what you're expecting, Pyro. What the fuck is the point selling to the Seattle group if the team has to stay in Sac town anyway? I've never seen someone so upset that a city isn't losing their team before.

*sigh*

Please, read up on this some more. PLEASE. I beg of you.

If the sale goes through to the Seattle group, they can absolutely move the team to Seattle, Mexico City, Quebec, or Bumfuck, Iowa if they please. It doesn't matter what the relocation vote says. Sure, they will be sued, but that is a case the NBA will lose.

Furthermore, everything the NBA is doing now is considered to be anti-trust.

The Seattle group will end up with a team from this. It may not be the Kings, but they will have a team. NBA is fucked. Stern is fucked. Silver is fucked. Any other discussion points are moot, to be quite honest.

No matter what happens, Chris Hansen has shown he will do anything for a team, even double the value of a franchise to get it.

I wonder how much the Bobcats are if the Kings are 625 Million....

I hate to see Sacramento lose a team, and I hate to see Seattle lacking a team, while shitty fans in Miami get THAT team.

Hansons must be an idiot how many times will he be told A.) stern said he doesnt want the to sides to keep raising the prices B.) its has nothing to do with seattle it has been voted that team stay in SAC cause they have shown the fan support and new arena

My goodness. I am getting sick of repeating this shit...

A.) Probably because Stern doesn't want the Sacramento bid to look completely outclassed, which is too late now, by the way. Furthermore, he knows the Sacramento group can't win a "bidding war", because Steve Ballmer has fuck you money.
B.) So much is wrong with this, that I just laugh whenever I read something about the relocation vote. Relocation vote doesn't mean shit, especially if the sale to Hansen is approved, because he can just move the team to wherever he likes (even the Kings fan the posts here admitted that this is possible). As I have said time and time again, sure, the NBA can sue Hansen, but they will easily lose that case.
C.) And of course, let's say the sale isn't approved. Then that is price-fixing, an anti-trust issue, etc etc ETC. Lawsuits there.

The cleanest path for the NBA right now is just to approve the sale, approve the relocation, and step aside.
If they want a mess, then Hansen will give one to them.

I don't really like the whole idea of playing dirty, hell, some have even suggested that Hansen buy the current Kings arena from the Maloofs and demolish it, and have the Maloofs move the team to Seattle, but if that's what it takes, then I am going to enjoy the demise of David Stern and the NBA.

Pyro, you keep saying the "NBA would easily lose that case", if they sued the new owners for moving the team. Show me proof of that. I need actual sources and a precedent, instead of you just saying so over and over again.

How about the fact that Sterling did it.
