Knicks want Wally

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wally is a big expiring contract this year. Will he be more valuable at the trading deadline?

Not necessarily.

I probably would rather wait until the deadline and use Wally to pry a star away from a team that had high aspirations of reaching the Playoffs only to be deflated by a little brush with reality. *I'm looking at you Milwaukee*

Again... it all depends on what happens with other teams... Just sitting-back and waiting could net us a star, but it could also backfire.

What if the only teams that have players we are interested in, or fit Wally's salary, are all doing as-expected?

Then we are forced to trade Wally for crapola.

I think we take the very first good deal we get.... I am tired of being patient and having to hear from all the media pundits how the Cavs missed the proverbial boat, etc, etc.

Not sure where Randolph fits with Wallace, Smith, and Hickson still on the team.

Well, it's obvious to everyone who isn't deaf & blind that Walsh will do whatever he needs to, to get rid of the salary-hell that Thomas put the knicks in.

I don't like the knicks, or dealing with them any more than any other Cavalier fan, however...

...I'm not opposed to using their desperation to our benefit.

Here is a scenario that I worked-out:

Cleveland gets:

Zach Randolph
David Lee
Jamal Crawford
future 1st round pick

New York gets:

Wally Szczerbiak
Joe Smith
Sasha Pavlovic
Future 2nd round pick

_____________________________________________________________

New York does this for the obvious reasons. They would try to get Anderson Varejao first, and we'd send him...but if he didn't agree, then we'd do the trade with Smith instead, and add a future 2nd rounder..... If Anderson agreed to the move, then we wouldn't send any pick.

We do this for obvious reasons too!

Jamal can flat-out score, as can Zach. And although Zach has had issues off the court, nobody has ever questioned his talent... and he is NOT overpaid!!!

David Lee is an EXCELLENT PF off our bench!!!

Our main problem would be Wallace. How would he take being demoted to the bench???

There is another golden nugget in this deal... before it is actually agreed-upon:

If NEW JERSEY hears that the Knicks are close to a deal with us... then that will almost FORCE Rod Thorn to step-up his offers, and maybe we can use the ruse of a Knicks deal to get a real deal from the Nets... who DON'T want ANYBODY taking the Knick's bad contracts off their hands!!!

Heath has taken the No Knicks approach, and flipped that into obtaining a whole bunch of Knicks... :shifty:

HAHAHA Damn the Knicks drive a hard bargain...

Knicks unwilling to trade Randolph to Clippers in salary dump

The Knicks have rejected a proposal from the Clippers to trade power forward Zach Randolph, league sources told SI.com.

Terms of any proposal were not known, but the Clippers have enough salary-cap space to accept Randolph's contract without having to give the Knicks equal salaries in return. The Clippers, seeking to replace the departed Elton Brand, were trying to take Randolph off the Knicks' hands while offering little more than cap relief to New York, the sources said. Randolph will make $14.7 million next season, and he has three years and $48 million left on his contract.

NY is a team I really am not fond of..and certainly their players don't overwhelm me...but if Ferry would do a deal with them ,we truely better come out the winner.

:shakehead

What I'm basically saying is that we use New York's interest to drum-up Wally's value... then maybe we'll get a true #2 or even better.

If Thord is truly trying to set-up his house for a run at LeBron in 2010... then he definitely doesn't want to compete against a Knicks team that also has the space to make a max-offer to the King. So, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that Thorn would try to outbid the Knicks for Wally's expiring deal?

Or perhaps another team does?

It's a thought.

The more I think about it the less willing I am to give up a full season of Wally's 2 inch vertical for any of the Knicks players outside of Lee.

You have a lot of thoughts, none of which I can say are even remotely plausible to something that may actually have some validity.

Fantasy basketball doesn't start for a couple more months, slow down Jr.

all i know is if this is true jamal crawford has to be a lock to be in that deal

I don't know why, but this post gave me a wicked case of de ja vu... seriously.

I say

We trade for him and combo him in a deal for

T-MAC!!!!!!!!!!11111

:chuckles:

Randolph next year or Szcerbiak next year

Just think of that

I would but I have been crucified on this board for suggesting such things in the past. :chuckles: There is definite risk involved in such a move, I will admit.

Yeah, i suggested Z-Bo earlier. people were not to kind.

I want Jamal. I really think he could be LeBrons Pippen and Crawford can be in our future building plans. Crawford is a lot more similar to Pippen than a Monta Ellis or Michael Redd is. Sure, hes had his problems, but if put in the right setting and not on a losing team, a team thats going for gold.. things could change. He averages 20 and 5. If he could be had for as little as Wally and draft picks.. I think you do it. Hes super clutch and can shoot like hell.

I know highlights don't prove much. You can make Kwame Brown look like Shaq in highlights but heres one when he went off for 52:

Yeah i really like this guy, His game could really help LeBron out

Professional career

After being drafted in 2000 as a freshman by the Cleveland Cavaliers, he was traded on draft day to the Chicago Bulls for their pick, Chris Mihm. After four seasons in Chicago, he was traded (along with Jerome Williams) to the Knicks prior to the 2004-05 season, where he started alongside Stephon Marbury at the shooting guard.

So this would be his second time on the Cavs,

But still he's a Combo guard...We have how many of those?

But his ability to shoot is amazing

I would take him over Wally every day
