Not that I completely disagree with you but I wouldn't be so sure of that considering he has never been on a good team.
I'm not saying he has, I'm just saying that I see that type of player in him... A guy who will look pretty good with poor talent around him because he is a talented guy, but when you put him on a real good team, he doesn't look like that guy you thought he was... Sort of an allusion type player I guess, is the best way that I perceive him...
This is still the NBA and if you have ever played basketball you should know that it is hard to put the ball in the hole when you have incapable teammates. I always played a heck of a lot better when my teammates were fundamentally sound.
That's fine but I don't see Crawford as a guy who is a guy who is "fundamentally" sound and really helps out his teammates... I see him as a 1-on-1 scorer, plain and simple.
He is not the greatest shooter though which concerns me and is very streaky a la Larry Hughes but he does have big game potential (I think he had 52 one game last season).
You're right he has big game potential but that big game potential rarely ever came out.. For every "big game" he had, he had probably twice the amount of low teen and single digit games...
And on top of that, like Larry, he needs a high amount of shots to put a lot of points on the board.. He had the 2nd lowest field goal % amongst the top 30 scorers last year... Not only that but was at the top of the board when it came to minutes needed to hit 20+ points...
I would trust him in the clutch though that's for sure.
Well according to 82games.com, he was 48th in the NBA in production during "Super Clutch" time..
Even though he was in the top 15 in 4th quarter scoring last year, he was one of the worst field goal % shooters in the top 50 or so...
Not only that but his worst stats (not by much, but noticeable) came against good teams, while his best stats came against poor teams...
He's a decent 4th quarter option but I wouldn't say he's a clutch player...
I am leary about using Wallys contract without getting All-Star quality talent though.
Same here... I'd rather get something I'm WAY more comfortable with than Crawford... There's no need to settle for him when we can potentially get a MUCH better return for Wally... Not only that but if he increases his play, his value could rise...
