I honestly think Kyrie is more mature right now than Russel Westbrook will ever be.

About 97% of the NBA is more mature than that punk (although I love his fantasy game...not yet this season though).

Funny to say, but age is Kyrie's biggest detriment right now....and its the other way (too young vs getting old). Making that lefty layup would have increased his confidence, missing it will make him hungrier. He is a competitor that is not afraid of the limelight. He is extremely crafty with the ball, able to negotiate tight spots whilst (how you like that Karma?) keeping the dribble alive - probably my favorite aspect of his game 3 games in. With stamina, this will only improve. Scary to think about where Kyrie's game can go. I just hope he doesn't become a chucker, as he has taken some ill-advised shots so far. Chalk that up to inexperience though.

Which one should be Irving's theme song?

"He was six foot four and full of muscles"

(Sorry if this is not the right topic for this meaningful discussion, feel free to move it).

He won't become a chucker with Byron here, but Byron said after the game that he was happy Kyrie took those shots - shows that he wants it. I tend to agree. And he said that ten games from now, he'd be knocking them down.

(besides, if he wasn't taking them, it would be Jamison........)

I'd rather Kyrie taking shots then anyone else on the Cavs. He actually has a chance to make them.

Scary to think what Kyrie is going to look like once he's more accustomed to the NBA game, and actually has some talent to dish to. (I'm looking at you, Andre Drummond.)

Second coming of Chris Paul: he has a natural rhythm to his game like Paul who is lightning quick but you don't realize it till he gets to the spot he wants.

Currently the thing that seems to be holding him up a bit is his stamina, lost some lift on his jumper as the game progressed.

I'd like to see some improvements in his passing and running of plays. Making an entry pass to a big in the paint is pretty fundamental.

Beyond the skills, Kryrie seems to have a great attitude. Same with TT. I have no worries that they are going to put in the time that's needed to get better. The duo has the potential to be a younger version of CP3 and Griffin.

Side note: If this draft was any indication, the Cavs are going to be weighing character as much as physical ability. That should be a solid clue at who the Cavs will draft. Anyone who is a bit of a diva or doesn't work his ass is going to be dropped down a peg.

Agree 100%. Kyrie is modest but confident, has mental toughness, has a great personal support system, is a natural leader, and let's his game do his talking instead of showboating. His mental makeup is the exact opposite of our previous "superstar", and I absolutely believe that was intentional.

Agreed - which is why I think if we land out of the top 4 MKG could be a lock (very mature like KI and actually played with KI @ St Anthony's)

Anyways - the other thing I love about Kyrie is the passion he shows towards his teammates...and vice versa. They all seem to love playing with one another - something that was absolutely gone last season. Kyrie fires them up and is ALWAYS there to pick up a fallen teammate. I know it's not much as far as talent is concerned - but the talent is obvious. It's the other shit that really catches me.

Agree with everything except this line

I don't think many of his shots have been too bad. He's gotten some open looks that he's failed to knock down, but he's got to be aggressive and take them. Once he gets his legs under him, they'll go down. If he's in game shape last night, he easily puts up around 30. Those are mid range jumpers that Kyrie nails in his sleep.

Also, as he gets more talent around him, he won't have to score as much. I'm sure he switched to scoring mode after the 5th fumbled pass/brick/blocked jumper that Jamison slopped up.

Kyrie struggled with his shot in the 2nd half, but not many outside a couple of Parker heaves were shooting any better. Kyrie took it upon himself to win the game and almost did.

If this was later in the year, we may have won that game. Kyrie makes this team so much better, he is the leader and they all know it. Even at 19. We just gotta lose enough to have a nice shot at a top 7 pick in this deep deep draft. Get another difference maker, because we are playoff bound next year outside some physical problem emerging out of the youngster.

We are building our core with a team concept threaded throughout. Getting the 'orchestrator' ... The leader and coach on the court in place at the very beginning makes it all the more favorable that this team will be built properly, and with the right type of person at it's core. The innate intangibles that Kyrie brings to the court and team far outweighs the physical gifts he has within him, which will make him all the more dominating of a force. When we drafted him I knew we were getting the best player in this draft, and a player that would be #1 or real close in just about any draft... But he's better than I expected. I was told he was poilseed/refined/developed beyond his years in terms of his ballhandling with either hand. Was told he was 'character plus' as a human being. But, even being out of shape and not even close to where he will eventually be as far as his the physical dynamic he will eventually bring to his game... He's got lots more than I had anticipated. He's quicker, faster ... Just e better overall athlete than I had anticipated. He will be a far more dominating and impactful than I had anticipated. Unlike Lebron James.... and I don't say this to be spiteful or bitter, unlike Lebron, he will make the other players on the court better and the team better and moe cohesive when he is on the court. That is something you can't teach or coach. It's something that relatively few in the game truly have, even amongst the greats. Something that the Jason Kidd's, Larry Bird's, Michael Jordan's, Magic Johnson's have and that certain something that Wilt Chamberlain, Lebron James, although immensely gifted and dominating... Lacked.

Kyrie imo will be a top 5 point guard in less than 2 years...right now on my short list I have Rose, Wall, Williams, Paul, and Westbrook as clearly better then Kyrie right now but all those guys have flaws that come with them and right now Kyries flaws are that he is not in the best game shape due to the lockout and is toe injury from last season..he cant get the proper lift on his shot that he will grasp later in the season and another flaw is that he sometimes will settle for jumpshots when he can penetrate and create for teammates...Get a top ten pick in this draft and a top 20 pick in next draft along with some key trades and Free Agent acquisitions and I feel that our Cavaliers will be well on their way to contending at the top of the East and the sole reason will be #2 in the Wine and Gold....Guys we didn't just get a star...we got ourselves a superstar and he will only get better from here :)
