I'm fine with discussing the idea of trading Kyrie. He isn't untouchable. But some of these ideas are just awful.

Some people simply don't know basketball.

Well, you got that right.

Why would trade a 21 year old All-Star? You can't replace that type of talent, especially since we are a small market team.

It's a trade, not free agency. It doesn't matter what size your market it.

And why can't that kind of talent be replaced? Because it doesn't exist? There is plenty of talent out there that is as good as a generic "21 year old all-star". Hey, offer KI for Kevin Love, or Anthony Davis, straight up. If KI's talent is as irreplaceable as you say, they should jump all over that!

KI is a very good young player with loads of potential. But he has not yet proven himself to be the second coming of Isaiah Thomas, Chris Paul, or John Stockton. He is a great individual offensive player who has not yet proven that he can elevate his team as a whole. His value is not unlimited, as some here appear to think, so being open to the idea of a trade that may make the team better shouldn't be off the table.

Just as an example, Rondo is a 4X All Star, made 3rd team All-NBA, made 4 NBA All-Defensive teams, and has been the PG for an NBA champion. That should not be a laughable idea if it is part of remaking the roster to add more veterans and better defense. I don't think I'd do that trade (though I might if he were 3 years younger), but assuming he's healthy, it's one that shouldn't be laughed at, or perhaps is one you might actually do if the pot were sweetened.

i'd rather trade kyrie and build around our budding superstar dion waiters. he's the next dwade and has grown immensely as a basketball player.. you can see it in the stats! trust me! trade the and-one streetballer wanna be!

john wall is the better athlete than kyrie thus he has a higher ceiling.. i wouldnt mind a wall-waiter backcourt with wiggins at the 3. defense and speed!

Just stop.

Stars don't go to small markets, so when you are a small market team and have a star, you don't trade him.

Exactly. If you have a star player that isn't demanding a trade, you keep him. Small market teams usually don't get star players.

We have a star in Cleveland, we should be trying to keep him in Cleveland and at least see how he does with a legit roster around him... Give the kid a shot people.

people seem to take one extreme or the other.
Kyrie is the best dribbler in the NBa. He has great touch at the Rim and he has phenomenal body control .

He can score proficiently from anywhere on the court.

This season was a rough one but you did see improvement in his passing game. Also he was given more opportunities to play off the ball and saw it come back to him. something he seemed genuinely surprised about.

He also was more focused on defense and showed flashes of skill that hadnt been there the previous two years.

Irving was an active re bounder which is always good for the guard and after he got used to everyone running he began throwing the ball up the court far more often than he had the past two years.

Yes he stops the ball at time . that's because he has extreme confidence in his abilities and now needs to differentiate what he can do with what he should do to make the right basketball play.

Kyries entire game was based on him putting all his energy and focus on getting to the bucket.

The important thing is Kyrie showed signs of genuinely seeing the need to adapt his play style and bring up other facets of the game to match his All star level scoring ability.

Trading Kyrie is not something to be taken lightly. its a last resort measure.

Atlanta, Memphis, New Orleans, OKC, Portland, would be the only teams that could make a real serious offer for Irving.. Followed by Boston, Charlotte Orlando and Philadelphia.

but those teams would be giving up quite a bit.

Just an opinion, the more talent the Cavs provided Kyrie with, the more selfish he became with the ball.

irving and bennett for hill and west

22-year-old Kyrie Irving and 21-year-old Anthony Bennett for 28-year-old George Hill and 33-year-old David West.

I'm sure the Cavaliers brass would kick that one around for a while. That is, until they get this doozy of an offer:

kyrie for trey burke and enes kanter. burke is the next damian lillard and kanter is a defensive presence. draft wiggins. dynasty!

burke
waiters
wiggins
TT/AB
kanter

Alec Burks and Enes Kanter. I believe that's what we call "getting pennies on the dollar."

but Kanter has proven himself as a great starter in the NBA.
