I actually don't see Blatt as a coach who's going to put Kyrie's assist numbers through the roof. Kyrie will be the primary initiator of the offense, but expect a much more dynamic offense where guys like Dion and Andy are regularly asked to be creative with the ball even when Kyrie's on the court. The improvement I would expect to see in Kyrie's game would be to his shooting percentages, as he should be a major beneficiary of this improved ball movement.

I agree with you to a degree. But Kyrie will be the primary ball handler. Blatt's offense will preach off ball movement galore and others outside of Kyrie assists will go up yes, but his will rise also.

How much it rises depends on who Kyrie passes to since we have shit for spot up shooting and also if Kyrie evolves his game to actually resemble a pass-first NBA PG. His efficiency will skyrocket once he learns 2 Assists > 2 points.

It's all up to Blatt to make Kyrie accountable. If I see Pop still yell at Tony Parker after near two decades of coaching I better goddamn see Blatt ream Kyrie for inefficient hero ball and his composure in games.

Absolutely! But worth noting, Tony Parker averaged just 5.7 assists per game this season, and 4.8 in the playoffs. It's obviously not because Parker's a poor facilitator. Quite the opposite. But the beauty of the Spurs offense is how unpredictable it is. When there are many creators on the floor, the amount of possibilities the defense has to account for is mind boggling, and that prevents them from keying in on any one guy.

We saw Kyrie and his own family pout under Mike Brown (understandably to some extent).

Hopefully, Kyrie has grown a pair since and Blatt's offense gives Kyrie room to work. More importantly, I hope he's grown up a bit to realize that the proper coach will lead him to success if he follows instruction. He and his family are not the smartest people in the room.

You're right about Parker, that offense can't be recreated imo but Kyrie's assists has actually increased every season (5.4, 5.9, 6.1). and that's in our shitty offensive system we've seen the past 3 years where he rarely passes. I can easily see his rising at least to 7 this year.

Parker passes all the time in his Offense, and averaged only .2 assists more if you compare career averages where Irving doesn't pass as much as you want him to.

Kyrie also averaged more assists every year than Parker's first 3 seasons if we wanna make it on same level. I believe he has the ability, he just needs to focus on more efficient passing than scoring.

Blatt's smart, he know's who his star is. He won't run his offense that shares the ball too much but will make sure Kyrie is the primary guy.

Anyone here know which interview-video Kyrie was talking about success..like growing up, he focused on conquering each level first - to be the best player in his town, then the county...then the state and eventually the best in the nation.

It gets tiring to hear first it was having lousy temamates then it the offensive system. The offense ran very well when kyrie was out after bynum had departed.

Kyrie holds on to the ball to long and sometimes forces plays he shouldnt. this will get better one hopes as he gets experience.

Many a times you see open shooters or cuts that Kyrie misses.

Hopefully Blatt can provide some structure around kyrie that alllows him to still play his game but also take adavantage of the openings he creates.

To Kyries credit you could visibly see him wokring on these aspects of his game. hopefully next season its 2nd nature to him and isnt forced.

I'm with you. I am not hoping for assists to go up necessarily, but I want Kyrie to have a better idea of what is going on on the floor. We want that ball moving, and we saw at times last year how good that can make this team look. I am also hoping Blatt gets Kyrie to get rid of the ball quicker. So many times i have seen Kyrie hold the ball 2 seconds longer so that the defense can get in better position.

I think Blatt's biggest impact on Kyrie will be giving him real options to pass the ball on drives. He will demand Kyrie to make the right basketball play instead of the hero finish and kick the ball out to the open man. This should increase his assists and increase Kyrie's efficiency at the same time.

It's one of the reasons I don't want to trade Waiters. His ability to also facilitate the ball from the 2 guard position, is extremely valuable. He's a great passer, facilitator, and can create offense for others. The test will be to see if Blatt can maximize both Irving and Waiters potential while using them simultaneously.

Comparatively, LeBron and Wade worked very well together for exactly the same reasons.

I honestly believe that blatt will take kyrie into superstardom. If kyrie is willing to learn and build the TD-Pop trust relationship, he will be one of the best PG's ever. I will stand by that. Kyrie has the combination of a larger IVERSON and mini Kobe. He is a killer with great size and incredible skills. I don't need to gloat about his potential, but if there was ever a person to build kyrie into the player we hope for, it's blatt.

According to this scout Zak Baris, Kyrie is happy with Blatt after talking with him.

Just want to say...this podcast/radio show is very underrated. For years they've been dropping high quality Cavs news that hadn't been reported elsewhere.
