Kyrie is a much better shooter and doesn't have Parker's floater but it's a pretty good comparison in terms of scoring and finishing at the rim. Blatt will turn this kid into a winning player, and with his talent that means superstar.

Wiggins is a pressure release for Kyrie mentally I suspect. Dan Gilbert is a very lucky man.

Like I've said all year long, Kyrie gets some unwarranted and ridiculous hate from some Cleveland fans but those are the casual fans who probably listen to Cleveland sports radio and hear what they say about Kyrie. But I think after this season, which I believe will be VERY successful, fans will be back to loving Kyrie again. I think the casual fans see the Cavs struggling record wise and say "Oh, Kyrie is their best player and they are sucking. Must mean Kyrie sucks, trade him". But as we all know, one player doesn't make a team. Get ready for a monster year from Kyrie and the Cavs boys !!!

I always thought Kyrie is a tony parker clone. I think coach Blatt is the perfect coach for Kyrie to harness his talents as well as limitations to winning basketball.

Except that Kyrie can be a rich man's Parker, which is scary. They approach the game the same way, but Kyrie is more skilled and bigger.

They do? Tony very much has a "team first" mentality. I can't say I've seen that very much out of Kyrie so far.

Tony Parker was molded by Pop since he was a rookie. I do agree that Kyrie can be a rich man's Parker, he has all the talent in the world, just needs to use it better.

Defense is pretty similar :chuckles:

Kyrie really improved from year 1 to year 2. Everyone was ready for the big breakout year in year 3.

But then Mike Brown and Andrew Bynum happened.

I expect big things this year.

You can blame Mike Brown for a lot of things, but Brown used Kyrie the exact same way offensively that Byron Scott did. The only thing he did differently was he tried (and mostly failed) to get Kyrie to play defense.
Kyrie just regressed or struggled with the added responsibility/expectations.

I have no basis for this at all. But Kyrie has a relationship with Kobe. And Kobe really did not like Mike Brown. One message or text from Kobe bashing Brown would have been enough for Kyrie to tune out Brown.

Did this happen? Who knows. Isn't it immature on Kyrie's part? Yes. But I think Kyrie tuned out Brown as soon as he was hired.

But then there was Bynum and no one knew how to play with him. It just was an awful move.

Let's not pretend a Kobe text sabotaged Mike Brown and Kyrie's relationship. Mike Brown has sabotaged these relationships because he's a terrible head coach. Great guy, bad head coach.

Mike Brown just has that natural stupid look where his mouth hangs open an inordinate amount of time... Probably didn't take Kyrie five minutes to think he was smarter than Brown.

I agree. I can just envision that scenario. Regardless of Kobe's actions, Kyrie would have tuned out Brown very soon.

Regardless, Blatt and Lue should be very good for Kyrie.

Lue has seen Rondo and Paul. He was a PG. I really hope Lue takes Kyrie under his wing.

That's why it is incumbent that a competent coach comes in early and teach the dude how to approach the game without actually changing his style of play. We've seen how Kyrie tried to be a facilitator in the first half of the season last year and it was uncomfortable to watch. Kyrie will always be a score first point guard and it is up to coach Blatt to mold him to use his attacking style to benefit the team.

Can we start negotiating a max extension with Kyrie on July 1st?
