The truth is [Kyrie’s] camp has been putting out there for years – years – that he doesn’t want to be in Cleveland. That they don’t want him in Cleveland. He doesn’t like Mike Brown. He didn’t like Chris Grant. He doesn’t like Dion Waiters. He’s already gotten a General Manager fired. He might get Mike Brown fired. This is the last time – once he signs he loses all of his leverage – so this is the last time he gets to enact leverage. I know he’s said all the right things so, fine, on July 1, when they offer a max contract – which they will – and I don’t even know if he’s a max player, but you have to sign him – sign a five year, no out. That’s what a max contract is. A max contract is five years, no out. If you want out or you want three years, that’s not a max contract. You want three years? Okay, we’ll give you $12 million a year. We’re not giving you the full thing.

I’m just giving you my feel right now and my feel is that he’s not crazy about [signing the full max extension] unless he gets everything checked off across the board.

Windy was probably right again. That makes sense. Everything is checked off of his list now. Grant is gone. Brown is gone. Waiters' bags are packed. The Cavs met his demands.

Well at least you can't blame them for getting rid of Brown. :chuckles:

Oh you haven't heard? Kyrie is in love with this city. Not even the people, just the brick and mortar the city is made of. He's on West 6th smelling walls and stroking street lamps as I type this.

Take that, Windy.

Should we have kept Grant?
Should we have kept Brown?
Has Waiters been traded anywhere? The only heavy chatter you hear about Waiters on the move is either for a top 10-15 player or from this board. Over the past two weeks you make it sound like they're going to dump Dion for Jason Thompson or for a 2nd rd pick.

Definitely, and also Jason Lloyd. Remember all those passionate Windy/ESPN stories and discussions on WKNR about how Kyrie wanted out of Cleveland? When he does sign the extension, look for a small article from ESPN.

I believe ESPN was just trying to bad mouth Cleveland so LeBron would not even think about signing here.

I mean, let's be real here...this team was a fucking train wreck earlier this season. We rebounded a bit toward the end of the year, but basically every move we made last year outside of signing Delly was an absolute disaster. We fired our fucking GM midway through the season, and even Luol Deng refused to buy in here. I have no doubts that Kyrie was not happy earlier this season.

However, as I mentioned above, hiring a winning coach like Blatt who has a reputation for getting all his players to buy in and winning the number one pick might go a long way toward helping Kyrie buy in.

I would be in love with the city as well..........after given a huge sum of money I didn't earn.

I suppose that's more likely than being in love with $90 million over 5 years.

I'm sure that's the card he will play.

But, he also threw this in at the end...

It’s definitely out there in the NBA that Kyrie is not happy in Cleveland – but if that’s not the case, he has a golden opportunity to prove everybody wrong and that opportunity is coming in a few months.

Pretty obvious that he didn't believe Kyrie would sign a true max deal with the Cavs. When you put all of this out there on the day of the most important game the Cavs have had since James left, don't be surprised when those who remember want to call you out for it. It's easy to forget that all of this stuff was thrown out there the day the Cavs were scrapping for a playoff spot and playing Atlanta.

It was a bold stance and I always suspected his source had an axe to grind with the organization (possibly Grant or someone close to him).

Anyone who suggests Windhorst is right would be calling Kyrie a liar. Sorry, but I have no reason not to trust Kyrie, who insisted all along that Windhorst was spreading bs.

Grant? The Thompson pick was bad and the Brown hire awful, but I wouldn't have fired him. Brown? I never would have hired him. Waiters? Give it another week or two.

Yeah, he'll take it... as he should.

When a reporter publicly challenges a player to sign a full max with a franchise and he does, it's not a good look for said reporter. J/S

I'm as happy as anyone about this possibly being wrapped up soon...

But let's pump the brakes a LITTLE bit until he puts pen to paper. Last year it took til September for Paul George to sign his.

I want Dion to stay:

I expect this to be over pretty soon, like hearing a tweet by 12:30 a.m. tonight. I say this since LeBron is a free agent, and I expect all teams to be throwing things out to lure LeBron that will be tweeted about.

Heck, Miami has been using ESPN to tweet about how much Miami will be offering Lowrey. Tampering much?

All reasonable in a vacuum but your initial post tied it all up to Kyrie asking for these things and being granted them.
I'm also starting to think you'll be more disappointed at this point if Waiters isn't traded, you've invested into that storyline so much the past few weeks
