Korver has a .738 TS%!!?! That is just totally ridiculous. He is shooting 51,53,92--50,50,90 club (and he is shooting 47% on CONTESTED 3's!)! His ORting is 126, Kyrie's is 115. His DRting is 105, Kyrie's is 110.

They are completely different players. But it is safe to say Korver is a HUGE reason for the Hawks success. He makes the floor spacing so ridiculously good for the Hawks-he impacts so many plays for them whether he has the ball or not.

He is without question an all-star this year. The question should be can Irving be in over someone else. Find the section about Korver on this page and read it to see his impact: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nba-all-star-team-eastern-western-conference/

I am personally one who wants to see Kyrie get snubbed so he plays the 2nd half of the year with a chip on his shoulder. I think it would do him some good at this point in his career.

Agree that Korver and Kyrie are tough to compare to one another but I found this interesting yesterday.

Kyle Korver is the best 3pt Shooter in the game today, he has a point that he's deserving, but he's going after/tearing down the wrong guy to express his point.

Guys, he is a troll. Why is this still being discussed like its even a realistic comparison? Kyle Korver is a role player. This isn't even a debate.

This guy's annoying but honestly (and trust me, I hate to say it), he might have a slight point…
Kyle Korver has probably been a little bit better than Kyrie this year. He's contributing heavily to a Hawks team that is 37-8 or something like that. And his advanced stats are pretty ridiculous. Korver just flat out changes the game when he's in because the defense has to constantly worry about where he is. He's the only 3-pt marksman I've ever seen get double teamed lol. Now don't take this to mean that I'm saying I'd rather have Korver for the future or for the playoffs or something stupid like that. All I'm saying is that I kinda see where the guy is coming from when he says Korver deserves an all star nod over Kyrie.

He's a fantastic shooter, especially this season. Career year.

But like you just pointed out... all he does is shoot. Well, and play some defense apparently. But that's his elite basketball skill. He doesn't create for others.

One of my admittedly irrational pet peeves about the NBA are guys like this that have little skill except to shoot the ball. It's almost like it's a parlor trick to me instead of a skilled basketball player.

So because I feel that way, rational or not, when I see someone say a player like Korver is a better player than.. just about ANYONE in the league, I scoff. He's one of the very best shooters in the game. Say it like it is. If he was on the Sixers he'd be invisible in the league.

Disjointed rant over.

Well, I guess that dude who just got his 1000th win, who picked Kyrie as his starting PG for USA Basketball - and whose decision was validated when our team won the gold and Kyrie won tournament MVP, just doesn't know basketball.

What a moron

Korver is having an incredible year, no doubt. But I don't consider him an all-star.

To me, you have to be more than a ridiculously good shooting low-volume scorer to deserve all-star status. He's not remarkable in any other area of the game outside of shooting, and he's not even shooting that much. 8 FGA per game for the best shooter in the league?

If he were putting up like 17 ppg on similar efficiency I'd be more inclined to give him the nod, but 12.9 ppg....

Korver is obviously a product of the system he's in. Him having good teammates and a good coach shouldn't grant him an all-star bid over someone who has shown he can be a 20-25 ppg scorer in any system, for any team.

If we offer the Hawks Kyrie for Korver (plus filler for salary blah blah blah) does anyone think they would turn us down?

Years ago I didn't think winning was valued enough during these conversations. Now I think it is over-valued at a hilarious level. Role players have good advanced stats because that's what playing on a good team and being the "lesser evil" will produce.

JVG advocating that Draymond Green be an all-star made me want to turn off the broadcast.

The ASG is meant to showcase the most dynamic basketball players in the world, not guys who set good screens and knock down open shots created by their teammates/system.

A team's record should be the tiebreaker between 2 equally qualified candidates.

EDIT: And who wants to watch 4 Hawks play in the all star game? You can see those guys play together 82 times a year.

Who would you start your franchise around? Kyrie Irving or Kyle Korver? Kyrie 10/10 times and I don't even think twice, case closed.

This is unfair to Korver: what's he's doing is actually pretty freakin incredible. He's such a good shooter that his defender cannot sag into the paint all and because of his off the ball movement forces the defense to constantly an additional defender to his side of the ball to make sure he doesn't get free off of screens.

In essence, he's creating for other like a Bizzaro inverse version of a great post player. Guys like Shaq and Duncan even when they didn't score created open looks all over the place so that even when they didn't have big scoring games they made a guy like Big Shot Rob a cult figure. It's reflected in the stats as well he has the best +/-, net +/-, and essentially tied with Milsap for best adjusted (ESPN RAPM) of a team that has gone 30-2 since Thanksgiving. He may be a one trick pony but he's a one trick pony like Mike Tyson was a one trick pony
