Just played a beautiful game tonight.

Is the choice really Korver VS Kyrie? Cmon now.

Korvers career high is 31 points in a game ! That's ballin and averages 12 points a game. I will admit he is amazing pure shooter but Kyrie excels at everything else possible

Irving is really steeping up to the plate as LeBron's running mate and as our clear-cut, undisputed #2 option. I'm loving it. The dynamic between him and Bron is going really well right now.

I keep hearing people tell me a guy who stands in the corner and averages 13 points should be an All-Star.

I get it, he's an awesome shooter. Put him on the all-shooting team. Save the All-Star spots for the best players, not the best specialists.

If Irving is left off the All-Star team in favor of Korver they need to just stop playing the game.

Remember how awfully boring Joe Johnson was in every all star game? Players like Korver, Green, and Lowrey gonna be even more boring.

Korver is having an incredible year, no doubt. But I don't consider him an all-star.

To me, you have to be more than a ridiculously good shooting low-volume scorer to deserve all-star status. He's not remarkable in any other area of the game outside of shooting, and he's not even shooting that much. 8 FGA per game for the best shooter in the league?

If he were putting up like 17 ppg on similar efficiency I'd be more inclined to give him the nod, but 12.9 ppg....
I disagree. I think what he lost in scoring was due to improved scorers around him (for the first time in his career) and a more offensively talented team and therefore more points to go around. Kyrie was the only true weapon we had on those Cavs teams the past three years (it's better than in 2010, when we had zero though). Add a champion forward (James) and a multi-talented big man (Love), and a big scorer off the bench (JR Smith), you're bound to see more balance. He definitely improved more on defense and plays with more intensity, so he's improved from last year, when he was...oh yeah, All-Star Game MVP.

Starting PG's last 7 games vs Kyrie.

points FG %
Ronnie Price 5 points 20%
Chris Paul 15 points 27%
Derrick Rose 18 points 36%
Trey Burke 2 points 10%
Kemba Walker 8 points 21%
Russell Westbrook 22 points 27%
D.j. Augustine 19 points 53%

Wow someone has really stepped up his D...

I don't know why people care what this Rosenthal kid thinks. He's a kid with access to the internet. Why does it matter?

Korver has had an incredible year. His volume 3 pt shooting is historic. I'm fine with him in the All Star game.

I'm a big metrics guy, but you do have to view the metrics in context. Korver is having a career year at age 33. Now that's something I find interesting and worth discussing. Clearly he has found the ideal system and ideal teammates.

It should also be said that he is considered such a "great" player because of his tremendous 3 pt shooting, but he's not exactly a one trick pony. He rebounds his position well, has a good assist to turnover ratio (of course, he doesn't have to "create" offense), and his defensive metrics, for what they are worth, are good. These points aren't trivial and are part of why I would say he is deserving of All Star consideration. Personally, I couldn't care one way or the other though.

It's funny that after the premature praise Kyrie received his first three years for being some sort of superstar, there is now a vocal contingent claiming he is overrated or not very good. The irony is that I think this is the first year he is truly deserving of being an All Star and he might not make it.

I agree we should award winning, but I really hate how coaches seem to overcompensate it. I mean, in what planet would anyone seriously suggest Kyle Korver, in an way, is better, or having a better year than Kyrie.

Sure, he's a good role player, don't get me wrong, but Atlanta is good because they have a very deep team, and everyone does their role. They're not number one in the East, mainly, because of Kyle Korver.

Put Korver on the Cavs, in place of Kyrie, everyone knows this team would be fighting for an 8th seed.

Kyrie has absolutely stepped up his D, but our rotations and help defense as a whole as really improved during our winstreak as well. For instance how many times did Rose and Westbrook either get their shot blocked or have to heavily alter their shot resulting in a miss due to Mozgov's presence. Not trying to take anything away from Kyrie. More of trying to give credit to the whole defensive unit for stepping up
