Where would Kyrie be if lebron hadnt returned? I know you guys are so quick to take credit....but its not really fair. Especially with how awful this team looked to start the year when kyrie wasnt buying in.

Personally, we are lucky as fuck james returned. Jmo.

Where would LeBron be if we had Mario Chalmers instead of Kyrie Irving? Oh wait, we already know the answer to that when the Spurs rocked them in the Finals...

I mean, this goes both ways and I think the first person who would tell you that is Kyrie.

James came to Cleveland because (1) it's home, and (2) because we had Kyrie Irving and Andrew Wiggins (as trade bait).

I'd say reason #1 was Kyrie, but yeah.

I'd just like to add a lot of those guys who wanted Kyrie gone last year or preferred Jabari Parker over him were the same "enlightened" fellows who felt they had a more objective view of players on their own team than the general collective.

Glad to see it took something resembling a competent organization to fix all that.

Yes. He saw that he could mold Kyrie. My point is, had he never come, Kyrie would still be showing glimpses on a terrible team and nobody would care about him. Lebron has won two titles without Kyrie, lets not get it mixed up. Its cool to high five each other because Kyrie is becoming an integral part of a contender, but lets not pretend that is happening this year without James here to guide him.

I remember when a few of us took a lot of shit from some posters for supporting Kyrie, especially during the whole Bynum fiasco.
Hell, it continued even until this year when people were saying we should trade him for Rajon Rondo. :chuckle:

Right where he is now. People can give LeBron a large credit for how much better we are as a team. And sure, maybe LeBron helped Kyrie grow up a little more, but he doesn't get much, if any credit at all for how well Kyrie has become as a basketball player. Zero!!

Kyrie basically picked up right where he left off after his second season.

Kyrie doesn't need anyone to make him better. People literally forget what a tear he was on his first 2 years in the league. Sure, he was flawed, didn't play a lick of defense, but his offensive skill set has never been something anyone with eyes have ever questioned.

The guy was MVP this summer in the FIBA games. He was going to go on a tear no matter what this season.

Mike Brown was the worst hire in the franchise' history. That's not me saying Mike is that bad of a coach, but to think this team needed him at the helm for the team we had, and progress would be made was absolutely laughable.

A player can only go so far with the talent they have. Kyrie not only had a young team, bad coaches, but he lacked a lot in talent around him too.

LeBron James has Kyrie Irving, it's not like he came back to play with Dion Waiters, and the other corpses that once resembled our roster.

I am not sure why Kyrie get's so much flack for not winning his first three seasons. Look at the roster, Dion Waiters/Tristan Thompson your second best players? Luol Deng that was completely disinterested. Starting players like Alonzo Gee and Clark that don't even belong in this league. Hell, when Andy was at least healthy, you'd see this team at least hovering around .500 for awhile, until he went down with his typical season ending injuries. You're supposed to be good with that shitfest of a team though?

Sure, if LB was in his place the team would have been better, but that shouldn't be seen as a criticism to Kyrie, for not holding the standards of one of the greatest of all time. But if LB was given that same team, trust me, we'd be no where even close to a contending team. We'd be one of the bottom feeding playoff teams, that would be lucky to get out of the first round.

Thinking about it, yeah, you're definitely right....

Had Kyrie really been bad, LeBron would've never have come to Cleveland or would've at least demand he be traded before signing.

All I know is Savannah and Rich Paul are somewhere high up on that list too. For Savannah the home factor was surely the biggest. For Rich Paul, I think it was a combo of recognizing Kyrie and all the flexibility the Cavs had to make moves + home + wanting to build positively on James legacy.

Not to say that LeBron isn't his own man, but those are two of the most influential people in his life.

No LeBron this season means we suck again. It's that simple. Kyrie is going to be a heck of a complementary star. He already is. He fits perfectly with what we're trying to do here. But at the end of the day, that's because of LeBron James. LeBron James is the primary ball handler on this team, and that is why a shoot-first PG who can fill it up actually works out amazingly for the Cavaliers.

I don't know how else to put it. If you think it's just mere coincidence that everything fell into place for Kyrie and the Cavs when LeBron showed up, I dunno what else to say.

Do you guys remember this video?

Kyrie did pretty well, and then Boobie and Samardo were hilariously bad. :chuckle:

I wish the Cavs would do more off the court videos. I like them because it shows what the payers are like without the media cameras shoved in their faces. Teams like the Bucks and the Kings do a lot of them, and they're usually pretty funny.

I think the best part about that Toronto game winner is the coach in the background who just flips out.

That video had to have been made before the latest Spurs game

Edit: Nope it was made a week after. Wow
