Has everyone not said their peace now at this point?

Hell, my quote regarding Harden versus Irving on this team was a paragraph or more about playoffs, fit with LeBron, and opportunity given.

Yet, it has now been sliced up and quoted so that all that remains is "I, too, would take Kyrie over Harden" which does not include the entire comparison, much less the entire thought.

That's grossly unfair, yet I've been tagged and quoted on it 20 times to what end? Shortened and used to make some kind of point on the tirade?

I've explained my thought.

At the end of the day, can we not approach this in a more civilized way? Why are the rebuttals in this thread becoming increasingly personal, and I'm not even talking about toward me.

It seems to me that the opinions are all out there and if someone wants to scroll through and read them, God bless them, it's available to do so.

@TyGuy, there's no reason to restate your argument multiple different times saying the same thing different ways. I've read them, as we all have. The loop is only going to lead to more people defending themselves out of instinct. We have no beef, truly.

We get it. Let's move on people. People are going to agree on some things, disagree on others.

As long as topics are relevant and it doesn't get personal, I'm pretty sure people can post what they want here. That's a good thing. Someone complimenting a player or criticizing a player has nothing to do with another poster, as @gourimoko has taken unfair heat for. A week ago, I made a comment about a specific post and said there was no reason to play traffic cop while the Kyrie frustration was showering in. That was unfair, so I took a break from the thread to settle; there's no reason to attack a fellow poster so I took a "walk," if you will.

A discussion on what a poster does or does not do in each player thread is ridiculous. The only one you can hold accountable for content is your damn self.

Let's bury it, my doods.

So I'm going to keep this directly on Irving. I said at the beginning of the year that he was the best PG in the league and he had earned the right to be called that after the Finals. There's no way that I can still, with a straight face, claim that. I am quite disappointed in his return to giving low effort on defense. I thought, after his Finals and playing the best defense of his life, that he had finally turned a corner. I was wrong. We are in year 6. There's no longer any excuse for it. He has shown the full capability of playing good defense, so its all effort now on his end. Until he shows some signs of life and consistency on that end, he will never reach his full potential. At this point, being 6 years in, I don't think we can safely assume that he's eventually going to put forth the necessary effort consistently if he hasn't done it by now. That's unfortunate. He can be a top 5 player, but only if some things change on that end.

Or, maybe he has learned from LBJ, and doesn't see a need to go 100% in the regular season. Maybe he doesn't care about winning an MVP. Maybe, just maybe, he wants to minimize effort in order to take care of his body and be in prime condition for the playoffs.

If he's a top 5 player in the playoffs every year, then I don't give two shits if he's lazy on defense in the regular season. Nothing of worth is proven in the regular season. I GUARANTEE that if he's healthy, Kyrie will be one of the best players in the postseason.

All else is just preseason. All else is just fodder for talking heads and ESPN. Kyrie knows that the only way to build his true legacy is with rings.

Who was better in the playoffs last year? Kyrie or Harden? Kyrie has proved his worth in the postseason. Harden hasn't proven jack shit.

Kyrie's game since the hammy has been the exception.

Relax folks.

And also, what good is wearing your self out on all-out defense in an 82 game season just to be exhausted(or injured) for the most important games? We have a formula and it doesn't involve Kyrie playing All-Nba level defense( or even being a neutral defender) until the playoffs start. Shit, Kyrie is hurting NOW, and we want him to give even more effort on defense when our #1 seed in the east is pretty much a given? How bout a fucking pg to get Kyrie off the damn court(and Lebron to for that matter).

I've just had to clear out a bunch of name-calling posts. Grow up people. I'm locking this thread down for 72 hours.

I been itching to post in this thread for awhile. That 49 point game was great. The loss sucked, but man, this kid is special what he's capable of. Almost won the game by himself. We sometimes forget he's able to do those very special things. Where he just wins games by himself.

He did it a lot when we were bad. Everything would go wrong, 4th Q comes, and Kyrie just bails them out.

Going forward, I want Kyrie to be the go-to scorer. Commit to it full-time. And if the 4th Quarter comes, if he has zero shots in a close game, blood should spill.

Wars should start.

That better never happen again.

I'd love to see Kyrie and Love defeat the splash brothers in the three point shootout.

They've both won it before.

Amen to the go-to 4thq scoring idea.
