LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's NO Butler, but doesn't Dammare Carroll do pretty good on him?
He does. Not as strong or quick but a damn good defender.

Kinda hoping for the Wizards to be honest. If Kevin Love/Kyrie were 100% healthy I wouldnt care.

The real question is, Are we still at Peak LeBron or is this the beginning of his decline?

Unless his jumper is the first thing going, the rest of his skill set is clearly peak. I think he'll snap out of it soon.

I think the problem is LeBron for some reason takes his sweet time to act.
He gets the ball in the post and should immediately act, either drive or shoot. If he waits and then drives, the D catches up and gets ready for him. If he waits and then shoots he just loses the rhythm, he is much better shooting with the rhythm of the action.

So LeBron should be more decisive, get the ball in the post and act right away, drive, shoot, kick out, but no 8-9 second staredowns.

Does anybody have the LeBron stomping/get out gif against the bucks? I need to send it to somebody.

Do the Hawks or Wiz have anyone who can slow LeBron down? I imagine he'll play much better in the next series in terms of efficiency.

I think he does this for 2 reasons. One he gets tired quicker.

When he attacks quicker he dominates....however when he does he normally is asking to come out of the game a lot sooner. This is why I kinda wish we just had "rest LeBron at the 6 min mark" rotation still so it can force him to be aggressive. Knowing he'll play the entire 1st Qrt is partially the reason he rests.

The other reason is just like Peyton Manning his mind is his greatest strength and weakness. He tries to outsmart a team by himself instead of trusting his instincts, teammates, and the original play call.

It's playoff basketball, Lebron does it to milk the clock and shorten total posessions. It would be beneficial for the Cavs to do so if there was more depth, but with Kyrie out, Lebron is pretty much the only PG on the roster to dictate the offense. It's better to have fewer good possessions than more bad ones.

There is no real solid evidence to the fact that Carroll can guard LeBron like Butler or Leonard.

One of LeBron's best games this year came against Atlanta when he scored 32 points in 29 minutes of game action.

Carroll is Jimmy Butler esque. Not as strong or as athletic. But still very sound defensively. He shut down John Wall the other day in the 4th Qrt.

Ultimately LeBron just has to start making shots though. He missed too many open jumpers and bunnies this last series.

LeBron scored 33 in 34 mins on Jimmy Butler as well. Doesnt mean he cant defend or keep LeBron in check if his jumper is off as well.

The bottom line is after coming off of two physical defenders in Crowder and Jimmy Butler I'm hoping for the Paul Pierce/Otto Porter's of the world.

LeBron>John Wall

LBJ finna go nuts on da Hawks if we play them.

Yes I understand the reasoning sometimes but sometimes it's just better to take the easy basket.
The team runs a play specifically to open up the lane when LeBron gets the ball inside, and all he needs to do is be quick and drive inside, because Butler can't really contain him. But when he stops, the D realizes what is happening and we see a C drop down under the basket ready o contest and everybody ready to collapse in for the rebound.
Scoring after 8 seconds > milking 20 seconds + TO.

I do agree that sometimes the pace needs to be brought down, and we need to lower the posessions number. But again, sometimes the lane is so clear that he just needs to take it.

Yesterday was SO enjoyable. The Cavs played like a TEAM! I posted before the Bulls series, that Chicago would be the biggest mental challenge of any playoff run. Tight games, buzzer beaters, questionable refereeing... And yet, on to the ECF. I didn't expect the degree of contribution we are getting and likely will continue to get from Shump, JR, TT and Moz (and, oh yea, Delly! -- I was a critic; it appears I was mistaken). Truly "next man up" basketball. Whether Rockets, Clippers or Warriors (Grizz likely done), I think we run the table and bring home the title.

What if Lebron doesn't think about what he's doing, gets past Butler but Pau/Noah are waiting for him and trap him? Throughout the Bulls series, Thibs had been alternating between single coverage with Butler vs. a mini trap where a big man slid over to provide help vs James. If all Lebron did was crash into the lane, chances are he would rack up in the turnovers, which has already been a problem for him in the playoffs. If you didn't notice yesterday, the role players went off because Lebron initiated the offense by reading and reacting to the defense. You won't get that playing a D'Antoni style offense.
