LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Lost in a game thread a while back was a very brief exchange predicated on a moronic comment (IMO) made by Van Gundy. He said that the Cavs would send LeBron packing if Golden State offered Durant + Curry.

Would you take that? I'd reject it in a flat second and I think this organization would to.

There is the issue of the changing of the hand-check rule. That made a pretty big difference that benefitted the offense. But zone defense rules have been relaxed, and that benefits the defense. Under the Jordan-era rule, it was easier to get one-on-one matchups.

I agree with all of this. Just a few added notes to the impact involving LeBron relative to the eras.

1) Today's NBA makes it much easier for teams to "pack it in" and try to make LeBron a jump shooter.

2) Despite NBA-wide modifications to hand-checking, LeBron deals with significantly more uncalled physical contact due to his frame--unfair or not. Despite this, he is one of the games premier finishers all-time.

3) Again, pre-hand-checking modifications, imagine the things a guy of LeBron's speed and strength could get away with in the playoffs as an on-ball defender.

I agree. Hand-checking was most useful for guys backing other guys down -- LBJ is more of a face-up player anyway. And I think the complete lack of zone defenses would have made it very difficult to guard him. Guys big enough to challenge him at the rim would have no chance with keeping up with his speed.

The whole handchecking LBJ argument had always been f@!king stupid. The guys making the argument have no idea of its practical usage. Yeah cos being able to use your hands will help you to guide a hulk of a player like Bron. We already see on a daily basis how bad players fail when they try to wrap him up on any part of the floor. Now you want to handcheck him and give him even more leeway to wrestle you with his off-arm. Someone tell these potatoes that handchecking increases the physicality the attacker is also allowed to use

Goodluck as you'd need all the guys on the floor, the bench, the coaching staff and the towel boy to slow him.

Anyhow it's been a joy to see him ramp up his physicality. Some guys were saying KD had improved as a Lebron defender not realising how little physicality he uses in the regular season. Guy just came off a series where he ragdolled Paul George on several ocassions

Seriously? .. We all know the Refs let alot of traveling slide with Lebron.... and everbody else.. the Game would not be fun to watch if it was broken up due to a traveling call every 2 Minutes..

All this "This should or should not have..." is bullshit... They didnt call it during the game so it is irrelevant because they wont suddenly start replaying the Games...

The NBA should get rid of the last 2 minutes report, I feel it makes the NBA look bad not good. And it stirs up too much that doesn't even need to be talked about.

i disagree i think it good to be transparent, but shit like this is fucking stupid. Not a single person question if lebron might have moved his pivot food when he was shooting that 3. It was said but if the league called traveled that closely there would be 20 travel calls a game, and make the game unwatchable.

That said I would like to know if the league actually does anything with these reports other than post them.

edit: I watched the replay, he traveled well before the shot. that said i still agree with my point no ref on the face of the planet was going to call it, and no one even mentioned it.

I think Lebron Trade ideas are silly. I think made up LeBron Trade ideas made by media heads are even more silly.

Or people would quit travelling. :)

lol, love how the NBA comes out of the blue with shit like this, but will never point out bullshit done by GS. Green alone needs to have a 2 minute-report just on the bs that he commits every game that never get called.

Watch LBJ get ticky-tack calls against him the rest of the playoffs most likely. I mean, the refs have no choice but to pay "close attention" to his traveling now, right?!?!?!

Well they would put out more 2 minute reports on the Warriors if they weren't blowing out opponents regularly.

The reports are only generated in close contests.

I find it hilarious that BSPN posts an article on a violation that is committed 15+ times a game, yet is only called a few times during an entire week's worth of games.

Is this even real? What the hell are they even trying to achieve with this? Sacramento Kings should have been champions 15 years ago. Where's our damn piss poor explanation huh? Fuck off you deodorant roll on looking Adam Silver.
