LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
10-11 and 11-12 are both '11. I covered 10-11 before 11-12.

He was better that year too.

What do you mean "get over?" Get over as in like emotionally recover to where they leave the house without crying?

Or get over as in they refuse to look at his game objectively?

Because looking at his game objectively, he was marginally better in 10-11 and significantly better in 11-12.

Regardless, I don't fault people for distrusting the guy. It makes perfect sense not to.
So for a postseason run you're taking 10-11 LeBron over this current one? I just don't agree. Especially with this LeBron being way more refined. As for 11-12 LeBron, that was the best one in terms of playoff basketball. No arguing that.

11-12 is when modern lebron was born. That's when he came with the post game and elite spot shooting. 10-11 lebron while in raw stats was just as good, lacked the post game/elite spot shooting.

These are the same people back in late December/early Jan who thought the Cavs would play better without him...oh boy, weren't they proven wrong:chuckle:
Yep. Or how they want him to be less-ball dominant so the players that lost almost every game
He missed could run the offense

this. 10-11 LeBron was a bottom 3 season for him. It was better than 07 and his rookie year. People forget how he dominated in 2012 Finals with his post game because his jumper was dead on arrival after game 6 of the 2012 ECF. 10-11 LeBron had no post game, had to play a ton off the ball, had too much weight on, and was a mental midget in the Finals

Without LeBron, the Cavs would struggle to hit .500. Primarily because Love and Kyrie still have never played winning basketball.

I'd be curious how they'd do if it happened 1-2 years from now after some playoff experience.

Even when lebron was injured early on before the rest, he had them at the 4th best offense in the league. When he was resting with Kyrie and Love taking control, they were downright putrid and on the Sixers level of awful. If you think Lebron was really not trying to his best before his rest, then lebron must be superman and alot better than we think:chuckle:

In regard to LeBron's ball dominance...

What you want is LeBron moving the ball around within the flow of an offense, assuming the rest of the team is hitting shots. Sometimes they aren't and if he can take it to the rack, that's one of the best shots in basketball.

It's when he dribbles his ass off and throws up garbage that people get irritated. Particularly when other guys are hot.

All in all, he plays smart basketball on 98% of his possessions, so it's not a concern.

This really is my point. LeBron's impact tends to get underrated. He is definitely open to criticism. But I just think some in this thread are trying too hard to find stuff to hate on. Does he go in "chill mode"? Yes. Does he play too much safety on defense at times? Guilty. Dumb media quotes? If it were a crime, he would be on death row. But saying things like he wasn't "trying" in the early part of this season is asinine. The guy couldn't even finish a layup. He was clearly in pain. A lot of people want to put the brunt of the pre-Moz/Shump/Smith problems on LeBron. But the roster just wasn't good outside the Big 3. Waiters was terrible. We had no bench or size. Blatt was still figuring things out. Irving was playing too much one on one. LeBron's attitude wasn't what we needed it to be. And I love Andy, but he was getting beat like a drum in the paint. We had a lot of problems guys. But once LeBron took the two weeks off to rest, they seemed to have pinned them on him.

Agreed. LeBron-ball can get ugly in grind-it-out games (Houston game comes to mind). But it's what I am putting my money on in a close playoff game. And that isn't a shot at Irving. Who has been one of the most clutch players in the NBA since he was drafted. That doesn't mean though we shouldn't add more offensive sets for Love, Smith, etc.

Would rather have current LeBron than 10-11 LeBron and would rather have 11-12 LeBron than current for reasons other posters just laid out.

He can't fully play lebron like 11-12 lebron simply because he's not being used the same.

The recent Warriors game is the only one I can think of all season where he was used in Miami from 11-14.

Lebron played like a big who could go out on the perimeter with Miami the last 3 years whereas the Cavs have him playing like a guard who starts everything from the 3pt line.

This kind of stuff was what Lebron did the last 3 years in Miami

Cavs don't even take advantage of LBJ's post passing ability

I think this season just speaks to his excellence.

If you look at his per 36 numbers, they are pretty damn incredible.

2011-12 (Super Human LeBron)

26.0 points, 53.1% FG, 36.2% 3PT, 7.6 REB, 6.9 AST, 1.8 STL

2014-15 (OMG he might be old)

25.6 points, 49.2% FG, 35.4% 3PT, 5.8 REB, 7.2 AST, 1.5 STL

It is CRAZY how good he is. There's something in many of your subconscious' telling you he's not as good and yet he is.....or at least close enough for it not to matter.

^ I think the sentiment that he isn't as good is simply based on him not playing the same style. Previously it was a dominating style due to using his freak athleticism, not it is mostly due to skill and smarts.

Thats the thing no?

We have run out of players to compare him with from the current lot. So, lets just compare him to a younger LeBron who would be a better competition than anyone currently! :chuckle:
