LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's one way to look at it. The other is that that team won 55 games and didn't make the Finals and the first full season Jordan came back they went from that (a good but not great team) to the greatest team of all time.

The next season they won 69 games and were arguably the second greatest team of all time. So let's be clear here. They didn't go from Really Good Contender to Championship caliber. They went from Really Good COntender to Greatest Team Ever. That's massive, massive leap.

The worst playoff call in league history kept them from advancing.

You forgot LeGod, and Video Game James. We get one of those performances, and we can waive goodbye to Golden State.

Waiting for his annual LeMVP performance.. hopefully we see it constantly in the finals..

btw off topic, did you guys see bleacher reports interview before the season started with curry??? lol.. this was before love got traded here, basically it went playoff pracket style and curry and klay met lebron w/ kyrie and 'surprise' entrance by love..

obv curry chose himself to win, and the br guy laughed at him, but crazy how things turn out.. anyways f that, i hope love can make a return for a game to fuck with them.. a guy can wish ;)

I'm waiting for the performance where he just can't miss a shot. Something along the lines of that Milwaukee game where he was just shooting from half court. Maybe better shot selection though lol.

In the finals, I would love to see that, as we win the first title in Cavs history.

What do you think he averages in the finals?

The last 5 finals appearances.

2014 28/8/4
2013 25/11/7
2012 29/10/7
2011 18/7/7
2007 22/7/7

I'm kind of hoping this is first time he averages 30...

I'm going 30/10/7. Very similar to how he dominated OKC.

He'll make the world bow down. Gonna be worse than the OKC series beatdown.

They won 57 games with Jordan in 92-93. 93-94, without Jordan but with the rest of the team intact, they still won 55 games.

But it's 94-95 that really makes the point. Horace Grant left and wasn't replaced, and that team really had no power forward at all. And, Jordan actually returned during that season. Played the last month or so, and then played in the playoffs. And even with Jordan in the '95 playoffs, they didn't even make the East. Conf. Finals. But then they added Rodman in the offseason to fill that massive hole at PF with a HOF talent, and they won 72 games in Jordan's first full season back, with Rodman, Pippen, and the rest. Ron Harper wasn't the explosive offensive player he was earlier in his career, but he was still a very good defender. Then you had a great scoring wing off the bench in Kukoc, and a great defensive vet in John Salley. That team was absolutely loaded.

I'm not saying this to diminish anything MJ did. I'm just saying that the "scoreboard" argument minimizes the importance of the talent with which he played, which was exceptional. I think you have to actually watch MJ to truly appreciate how great he was, more so than just counting rings. After all, Scottie has as many as MJ does.

Anyway, the ultimate point is that while the MJ/LBJ argument probably won't ever end, I think it's fair to look at what LBJ has done this season, and particularly in these playoffs, as something both pretty remarkable, and different than what Jordan ever did, or was asked to do.

Funny you guys bring up OKC. I've been watching GSW and they do remind of 2012 Thunder, hot shooting and all. KD looked unstoppable; he, Russ and Harden formed an earlier version of 3 splash brothers. The way they beat SAS to get to the Finals was impressive.

Then Bron just bullied them in the Finals.

Same. He usually has a few of those every year.

AND if you look at his 3pt shooting, there is a huge sample size that says he is a much better shooter than he has shown in these playoffs. SO you'd think regression to the mean would occur, and he might have a few of those hot shooting games due to happen no? ;)

I'm no statistician (rimshot) but I'm pretty sure regression to the mean implies all things equal. Playoffs is nothing of the sort or Kyle Korver wouldn't have turned into, well, Kyle Korver from 3-4 years ago.

LeBron's bad 3shooting is MAINLY (imho) because he handles the ball so much these days (increasing by necessity but also by choice) that he isn't getting very many rhythm threes like he might during the regular season when they are fastbreaking more, or when the halfcourt defenses are so attentive.

In short, he's shooting terribly from 3 because he takes them when he's tired rather than attacking the basket, and because he rarely takes good ones. I would not be surprised if you told me 27 of those 62 (prior to 4, I don't know the current count, but 10-62 is my thought) 3 attempts were reasonable and say he hit 8 of them, and 35 of them were atrocious and he hit 2.

I'd say, "that sounds about the size of it."

OKC was also favored in that series by the fans and Vegas. Now none of the Lebron haters will admit it and pretend that Miami was always the favorite.

LeBron and the Heat lost game one in OKC then came back and won 4 straight. I could see this series going close to the same way.

LeBron has us so close already to getting a ship. I think he's going to come out beasting and finish the job.

Golden State is better than that OKC team was at the time. Obviously now if they had a health quatro of Westbrook-Harden-Durant-Ibaka all in their primes they'd have been a force unseen in NBA history, but back then they were still raw.

I'm thinking LeBron puts up 31/9/9 in this series. 6 games. Finals MVP. Utter dominance.
