Let it all out. The Cavaliers Rant Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've had enough of these low-risk, washed up veteran players. I don't understand the notion of bringing in veterans who can't even help the team. For example, right now the Cavs have James Jones on the bench and he's getting minutes. Everyone knows he can't defend anyone. He isn't getting any better, so why keep him when you can have a guy like Glen Rice Jr instead. We need players who are hungry. Not guys who are content with their careers and will be out of the league in 3 years. Do the Spurs go out and sign washed-up scrubs? Nope.

Another thing that irks me is how the Cavs have had a need for rim protection all summer. They don't even try to get a player on the roster who can block shots. Like they keep Alex Kirk around, who is obviously a big, unathletic player, when you can take a RISK on a player like Hassan Whiteside who is nearly 7'0 with a 7'7" wingspan and is a very good athlete. Even Jeremy Tyler would be better. Instead, they sign Lou Amundson, who is the white Tristan Thompson, with 10 more years of age, and even less skills, on the vast decline.

They have been playing it way too safe. Yes, the players they signed are proven commodities and accept their roles. But why not take a chance on younger guys who a.) are hungry to make a name for themselves b.) will still do what they are asked, and c.) have room for improvement. You're allowed to take risks, and might just find a gem if you do, instead of a player who will be out of the league in two years.

I've been extremely disappointed with David blatt.

There's my rant.
My only disappointment lies in his inability to consistently work Love into the offense.

Other than that, individual defensive efforts have been poor, LeBron has been underwhelming (hopfully due to injury) and with a bevy of injuries, trades, and inconsistency from the bench.

I think when the dust settles and this team gets healthy, it will turn a corner.

I agree with you, but one of the problems is that we have been unable to develop talent. A great way to get guys that fit your system is have a strong culture and indoctrinate them and have consistency. This is year one. It would have been great if it was year 4 of Blatt, but it isn't.

I totally agree with Lebron Buddies on the team. JJ is worthless and doesn't support the coach. Fuck you buddy, you suck anyway. Mike Miller had been positive and seems to support the coach. If I were Griff I'd send Lebron buds out if they weren't on board. You can't have bench scrub vets like that.

I really wish they would look for some young guys with upside, but our options are limited with no 2nd rounders. Houston has made a deep team repeatedly picking up 2nd rounders finding guys that can step up who are hungry. We have guys who not only don't deserve time, they are only going to get worse.

While this makes a lot of sense, you have to take into consideration that any championship team in the past has had veterans who have been pretty much worthless when it comes to playing serious minutes. The reason for this being that you need guys who can take the younger guys, or guys without playoff experience and take them under their wings. Everything we hear about Jones, Miller, and Marion is that they are great locker room guys. It is evident with Miller who always looks to be positive and trying to keep this team together. Has he played like we all have hoped? Hell no, but I can guarantee you that he helps mend certain situations between the coaching staff and the key players like Lebron. Obviously Lebron listens and respects Miller or he would not want him on the team, same going for Jones.

So with that being said, if we were a young team with absolutely no shot at making a run then I would be all for brining in younger projects, but thats not the kind of team we are. After these trades I have a new confidence that this team will be just fine when they get on the court together.

James Jones wasn't the best example. I don't have a problem with Miller or Marion. The problem was more with guys like Amundson, Kirk, and Price. Thankfully they are gone. But really, how many of these vets do you need? Miller, Marion, Jones. Done. Now go get some guys who could actually be something.

I don't understand all the Love hate, especially after tonights game.
His jumper was hot garbage, so he tried to contribute in other ways and feasted on the offensive glass in order to get some easy buckets.

That's why I disagree. Imo, after tonights game you can't come to the conclusion that Love has no heart or showed no effort. He tried but he was off.

I agree- I also feel like the Cavs have been a 60% complete team so far this year. Even before Av goes down we are transparently thin at C, Dion and TT and Delly aren't starting level talent but this is the hand the Cavs had to play. Just on paper we look like a more complete team this week- I think the addition of Moz and Shump will allow Love to put much less energy into his below average D -which should help him find his shot.

If Love doesn't look like a max player with Mozgov, you have to flip him for another defensive big who can hit a jumper. How is he gonna flight Gasol or Ibaka or Duncan? Undersized and overrated.

I said before we got him he only adds scoring and rebounding, neither of which I thought we needed. Worse than I thought he is barely adding either!

Love is too soft to make a dent in the playoffs. I will trade him for Jeff Green and Brandan Wright. At least Green is athletic enough to beat
his man off the dribble and slide his feet on D.

Can the specialist vets actually do what they are paid to do?
They are here to make Lebron happy. That is their job. Blatt playing them is out of their job duties as far as I'm concerned.

Man it's a shame that this thread was started last year when we had mike brown as our head coach with every reason to rant. Yet we continue to rant with a team with Lebron, Kevin love, and kyrie. Players every other team and their fans would kill for.

My rant........

How can we have such talent and play so poorly? We are one loss from being a .500 team. The bucks just jumped us in the standings. I know injuries have hurt us, and chemistry needs to be formed but enough is enough

When preseason started I thought we would coast, most did, vegas had us as the favorite to win a championship. I thought we had something special.

Now we are a joke, as cleveland always is. Talk of us firing yet another head coach halfway through the season. Star players not looking interested and yelling at each other. I still have faith that we can pull it together, and hope we do. We as Cleveland fans, real Cleveland fans, deserve better.
