Likely use of Haywood contract?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The two deals I have seen come up most from people concerning the Haywood contract is with Toronto for Vasquez and James Johnson/Ross OR with the Spurs for Splitter and Mills.

We got JR, Shump, and Mozgov for Dion and a pick. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if David Griffin worked his magic with Haywood's contract to get us Kevin freaking Durant.

As is noted up thread the number of albatross contracts is limited and they also need to be someone that would accept a team situation and third/fourth/sixth? fiddle role. It's not a super long list and then add to that the exploding cap.

Danilo Gallinari ($11.5) maybe. Lance Stephenson (9M) thad young (9.9) Jordan Hill 9M anderson who someone mentiond 8.5 -- though I doubt they'd part with him, unlike the aforementioned...

would you want Brandon Jennings for one year at 8.3M. Channing Frye will be out there 7.8M. Marvin Williams 7M might be useful. Chandler, Wilson 7.1M OJ Mayo 8M, tho' I don't know that Buck want to move him. Kelvin Martin can score. he's 7M.

that's about it. Maybe Portland gets rid of Arron Afflalo (8M) but I doubt it.

None of them seem that interesting other than maybe Chandler

For two months, I have thought that the target would be Gallinari. He shot 40% from 3 after the allstar break and is 6'10. He is good friends with Mozgov (check Twitter) and will be in the last year of his contract. Denver already has $60M booked for next year and is going nowhere. Might need to send a player/draft pick with it, but I like the fit.

I mentioned the idea of Splitter and Mills before, but if the Hornets are willing to attach the 9th pick with Stephenson's contract...that would be pretty nice.

Like LeBron said in the JR press conference, he can handle anyone.

Is Stephenson worth the risk (even with the 9th pick)?

He had about as bad a year a big free agent signing has had without being injured.

Grabbing MCW or Turner would be pretty enticing.

That Charlotte coach has no idea how to run an offense, so his worse tendencies on that side of the floor were brought out and exposed.

The question is whether or not he and LeBron could bury their feud, but if they could I think he would add another tough guy to our bench which isn't a bad thing.

Why is everyone suggesting going after ONE $10 million player with the Haywood contract when two $5 million players would probably work better for this team? I could see us targeting more PG depth and a defensive wing to spell LeBron.

I think most people are operating under the assumption most of our guys are going to be retained - and I'm not 100% sure of that.

The only guys I don't see coming back for sure are Perkins & Marion (Haywood only if we can't move him).

I think Delly & Jones (and possibly Miller) are guys that, despite recent play, are still on the fringe for next year.

I also think one of JR/Shump could possibly be on the move.

I'm a big Gallinari fan.

Nuggets Rebuilding Around Gallinari, Nurkic; Could Trade Lawson, Faried
MAY 22, 2015 12:34 PM

The Denver Nuggets are expected to make Ty Lawson and/or Kenneth Faried available in trade talks before the June 25th draft.

The Nuggets believe Danilo Gallinari and Jusuf Nurkic are the two centerpieces of their rebuilding efforts.

Denver figures to have cap space in the coming seasons, but free agency hasn't been an area of success for the franchise historically.

Thanks for finding this. Time to search for someone else, but I think the Nuggets are cray to build a team around those two.

Somehow Griffin will also manage to trade up our pick to the Knicks for their pick by adding Joe Harris to sweeten the deal, so that we can screw them over one last time. Karl Towns will then fall to us. Next year's lineup:

Kyrie/Delly
Durant/Shumpert
LeBron/Smith
Love/Tristan
Towns/Varejao

Then Durant, Varejao, Love, Kyrie, and Shumpert will all go down, seeing that they're all injury prone, J.R. will get suspended for forcefully shaving Kelly Olynyk's hair off, and LeBron will drag us to the Finals...or something like that.

Chandler would be a near perfect back up for LeBron. Portland would be the situation to watch though depending on what they do with Aldridge could determine the future of Matthews, Batum, and Afflalo. I'd love to have any of them on our team.

I'm against people like Gallinari, Jennings, or Mayo that can't play defense though. We have enough scoring with Kyrie, Love, JR, and even Shump. So sure, the person we get I would love to be able to make an open shot, but Haywood's contract is a waste if it isn't a two way player.
