Looks Like Noel Just Blew Out His Knee

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So now here's the real question...

The Cavs have been improving and might end up with a pick in the 4-7 range. If Noel declares and is still rehabbing during the combine and draft day and falls to our pick, do you take the risk and take him?

I would assume Len, McLemore, and Shabazz are off the board by 4-7.

Derrick Rose says he added 10 lbs of muscle to his frame while rehabbing his ACL. I wonder if Noel can use this time to bulk up...he needs it BADLY. He was getting man handled last night by bigs that would get pushed around a bit in the NBA themselves.

If those three are off the board and Noel is still available I hope we would take him.

If Len is off the board, then I probably do it in a heart beat. As long as he's cleared by medical professionals from long term damage, he'd probably be the best on the board.

I do wonder if Bennet will shoot up boards with a strong tournament performance.

I doubt it's silly at all. Ligament tears are no joke. Yes they have some of the best medical care in the world, but everyone reponds differently to a major injury. Not every player is going to come back like Peterson did, and have one of the greatest seasons in history. Look at Rose for example. Who knows how good he will be when he comes back. Will he still be agressive enough to be a great player, or will that fade. Taking someone with a serious injury #1 overall is not a wise decision. I'd be weary of taking him at #10.
Do you mean weary or leary?

Getting Noel anywhere after 3 would be a coup imo. Even if he spends most of his rookie year rehabbing, he'll be ready to go in 2014 when we're ready to take it to another level. He's going to have be eased in anyway.

A broken knee cap is 1000x better than a torn ligament. Bones just heal better.

Exactly. Broken bones heal better because they come back stronger. Your body's scar tissue that it uses to replace the old original tissue is usually never quite as good, and, if it is, it takes a long, long time to get fully back. Your body also will limit your strength naturally in order to protect itself. Bones quickly come back, and stronger than ever.

Noel wasn't that good where he'd be guaranteed a top 3 pick. His stock could plummet. Defensive players don't get drafted high.

Still think he comes out. Lowest he goes is #5. If he's still on the board when the Cavs pick, I take him and hope for the best. The difference is that Oden had micro fracture surgery. Many athletes have fully recovered from ACL tears and it's one of the easier tears to recover from. Hell, if Noel's recovery takes 6-8 months, then theoretically he's ready for the start of the season. I don't think any team would rush him back that quick, but it's a possibility.

Noel is the best player in this draft and the best fit for this Cavs team. He has superstar potential. Even with the injury, you take that chance. We drafted Kyrie under somewhat similar circumstances, why not do it again?

Dwight Howard, Greg Oden, Anthony Davis, etc. disagree.

Dwight Howard was the Magic's leading scorer, and Greg Oden certainly had the tools to compete offensively. Fair point about Anthony Davis though, at least so far.

Dwight eventually became their leading leading scorer it did not happen his first season. By the way, Dwight howard is not skilled offensively. Marcus Camby is another example of a defensive player drafted high.
