Lucy: "I don't want to go to Disney World anymore"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The premise of this thread is just not well thought out, in my opinion.

I show up to the airport, when I fly, with plenty of time to spare. That way if they want to run me through the machine and see Tiny, they're more than welcome to. I've got nothing to hide and if it is going to make me safer in the long-run, go for it. I'd rather the TSA put me through the Agro-crag than allow me to zip into the plane if it is going to help me avoid being subject to liabilities. People will hide drugs and other crap wherever they can. As soon as security is lax on one area, people with criminal intent will find a way to exploit it. It is pretty simple.

The idea of big brother "showing us who's boss" is pretty pathetic. Don't want to be subject to "unreasonable search and seizure", don't fucking fly.

All this shit because of box cutters and a shitty cockpit door.

Eh, that's selling it all a little bit short. There's been a coupe of guys who, all in attempts to make a point, snuck weapons in through the old metal detectors. But, yes, it is sad that terrorism is a real threat in this world. It is sad that people try to get away with smuggling drugs and weapons by putting them on babies. IMO, if we don't, as a society, adapt to how corruption mutates, we are being naive and opening the door wide open for devastating consequences.

Part of taking care of your car, your body, your home, etc. is preventative maintenance. It's why we regularly change our oil, eat good food and exercise, and seal/stain a wood deck/siding. If we don't, the damage that ensues can be much, much worse. In this case, we were complacent, left a shitload of open doors that devious people saw as a weakness and exposed us. Live and learn.

Drugs, lol. What quantity of drugs could you possibly get through airport security that would really matter anyway?

So have we won the War on Terror yet?

Yeah. Time to give up and trust everyone. Good job everyone.

Your naivity is actually a bit refreshing. Do you know what a kilo of pure cocaine looks like all bundled up, nice and tidy? And do you know what the street value of it is?

I'm not sure that you ever win that war. There will always be terrorists. What's your point?

I think the problem is that we insist on calling all these things "wars." Wars imply there can be victory.

That's the point.. If you label things "wars" then they continue. The wars on drugs and terror were never intended to be won, but as means to legislation and executive orders with most of the public supporting them.

1. There's nothing in the Constitution about free movement within the nation.

2. Even if there was, I'm pretty sure it would only count walking, as all other forms of movement would require you to pay someone else for the privilege of traveling.

3. When you pay a company to transfer you, you agree to abide by their rules. If you disobey, you can be ejected or arrested.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. The Supreme Court has recognized freedom of movement as a fundamental Constitutional right. The right to contract is also a right. If you pay someone else to travel, that would be a contract; not a privilege. If you agree to the company's rules then you have to follow them. If the airports had their own security and you agreed when purchasing the ticket to go through their security that is fine. The TSA is of the government and in this come the problem.

The only logical thing for Congress to do now is to make flying illegal.

I really just do not understand the dumbass logic of some of the people on these boards. Do you really not understand that flying in a giant metal tube filled with fuel that travels several hundred miles per hour should be subject to different passenger rules than walking or driving a car?

Further, you have the freedom to drive from state to state, but if you break any driving laws, you can be pulled over and even arrested. Do you think that should be illegal too? Should drinking and driving be illegal because it infringes your right to move freely? Should jogging down the middle of a crowded freeway be perfectly okay because you have a right to freedom of movement?

Face it: flying is not your fucking right. It's a privilege, and as such it is subject to different rules and regulations than most other forms of travel. If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to take a bus, bike, train, car, or boat to your destination. Or you could fucking walk.

You get awfully upset when someone challenges your programming. I understand you aren't interested in being free, just being taken care of. That's ok, a lot of people are the same way.

That doesn't change the fact that according to the law, not only isn't the federal government granted the authority to maul citizens without probable cause, they are expressly forbidden to do it. I know you don't give a fuck about violating the Constitution when you agree with it, but one day they will violate in a way you don't agree with. If the law means nothing now, it will mean nothing then too, correct?

Who is getting mauled? I've certainly never been mauled at an airport, or anywhere else by a government official for that matter.

I also didn't see anyone getting mauled in the video you posted. They simply wanted to search a little girl and the mother freaked out so she could post a controversial video on YouTube. She essentially exploited her child for the sake of getting some hits on the internet.

I'm also not sure exactly what freedom is being taken away from me here. The freedom to bring a bomb or weapons on a crowded plane? Those don't sound like freedoms people should have anyway.

Optimus, what do you propose as security measuresat airports, if any at all?

That makes no sense whatsoever. Majority of the sane public has no problem with security at the airport. End justifies the means. IF you don't like it, don't fly...

You keep on saying mauled and molested...im guessing you've never actually flown. It's a quick and painless process. It makes the airplanes safer, I welcome it. Most of the public does. When my daughter goes through, the searches are quick and respectful. If they are molestors, then i suppose my kids' doctors are rapists.
